Certainly a far different response than this one would have received 10 years ago, probably even 5, when OP would have received a hatestorm. Not saying that's a good change or bad, but it's a noticeable one.

To those saying what downside could there possibly be to offering both - splitting the player pool is problematic at some stakes on some sites. Not saying that's the case here; I wouldn't know as I'm not playing online these days. Just presenting it as the one possible downside to offering multiple choices.

This! I'm so spoiled by the action in live games that internet poker is like watching paint dry to me. But the 20bb games were a blast! If they return then so will I and I'll gladly donate to all comers, including that JimExotic unicorn person who probably had to file for unemployment when I left.

The 150bb run in it twice tables on Betonline are the juiciest on the site for PLO. Global should do a test weekend offering 20bb and also deep stack tables. I’d play them all.

Again, I guess this is a super difficult idea for some to comprehend, but you can continue to play the games of your choosing once these are offered. It doesn't affect YOU.

It does because there’s a finite amount of players/sweeps cash on the site. Perhaps some new players will join/deposit due to a new game type being offered but the players itt aren’t privy to that info.

I played 20bb as my main game for the entire duration it was offered. I can tell you that multiple regulars in 10/20 were referencing Preflop charts in-game based on their timing tells for hands that went to showdown. One of them was the highest volume regular on the site who would open sit and start games HU with no game selection(he would also close tables if he got deep HU vs regs, I’m guessing bc he didn’t wanna play without a Preflop chart unless it’s vs a fish). Global can’t stop people from having excel charts open with screenshots of matrix’s for all positions/scenarios/stacks while they play.

The game is the best for action. If you're scared of people cheating don't play. Personally I've never studied a day in my life for any form of poker and found it by far the most fun and had without a DOUBT the most action.

Stars has a section in their TOS that specifies complicated preflop charts are not allowed, Afaik global does not.

If you define action by amount of Preflop allins then yes 20bb will have more. In a game where everyone is 20bb effective it becomes correct to have a lower vpip than 100bb. Rfi from every position is lower and cold calling is way less.

I can't speak too much for the higher stakes, but the 20bb games brought in players that I never saw again after the games were taken away. I think it attracted a bulk of its players from a) other games on the site and possibly b) other sides/outside of Global because I had never seen many of them before and then never saw them again.

It takes skill to play deeper bc you have to play postflop. 20bb games there is exponentially less strategy involved. Terrible idea to bring them back especially when player pool is finite, as mentioned above. Go play blackjack or roulette if you just want a flip fest

Following Preflop charts 20bb effective will net you a lot of winrate since many hands in this format there are no decisions past that. When there is, low SPR postflop spots are more intuitive.

I didn't play them in the past but 100% I would play 20bb tables now.

I would much rather relegate the short stackers into a designated area like 20bb games, then having them sit at the 100bb tables getting an auto edge over the rest of the deeper stacks.

Is there even one short stacking reg on the site?
