Birthday Present from Global Poker Birthday Present from Global Poker

03-05-2022 , 09:35 AM
Got an email this morning.

"I have also noticed that March is your birthday month. I would like to send you a little something as your birthday present. To help get things ready for when they arrive, please confirm the exact mailing address that you would like your present mailed to."

What exactly do they send to you? Also, what is the Global Poker Premium team?

The Premium Team is a part of customer service, that generally deal with higher priority escalations etc.

(Be careful posting your birthday month here or anywhere, easy to get doxxed.)

It's not a big deal, I swear. But March is my bday month, been on GP since pretty much day 1 in 2017, never gotten a gift. But it is nice they are doing things like this.

No, I didn't ask them though. I can update the thread when I receive the package.

That's super helpful, thank you.

Since this thread seems to have a happy completion, David Lyons can you please comment on the "Global Poker Stole $16,000" thread? That has some significant bearing on the reputation of your company, and all official reps have thus far ignored it. Are you guys really going to hold this players feet to the fire because they are a US resident, but initiated a withdrawal outside of the country? I've done the exact same thing prior to your ToS changes and never had issues, and know the same would've happened to me, but was "lucky" COVID happened and restrained my travel.

This hits home for a lot of people, and $16,000 is a lot of money for most.

Just had my bday a few days ago and global opted not to give me a present. I wonder why they are choosing to give certain people presents but not others. Not like I have been critical of them many times lately

Had a dec tourney win recently and they once again asked me to hold a giant check and I declined again. Something tells me global doesn't like me very much now

I’m not going to comment on a specific case on a public forum.

I will say in general terms that we want as many players to play and redeem prizes as possible, so cases where accounts have to be sanctioned and / or coins have to voided are examined very very carefully.

Hey David just wondering is there a reason why some people get a bday present and others don't? Asking for a friend

Since I have only deposited $30 to Global about 4 years ago I doubt I will get a birthday present

No email from them and my birthday is this month.

We try out all kinds of different promotions like this, on different types of players.

Of course, all promotions are ultimately used to increase profits. So being Global tailors certain promotions to certain players (or more accurately, certain behaviors) that should tell you they have sophisticated tools to determine who gets what. Or maybe we should believe that promotions are all just random too.

False. In our business model context, promotions can be aimed at increased liquidity of players, brand knowledge, retention or whatever else. Sometimes we know in advance that a certain promotion will be a net negative and still do it, which is contrary to what you imply.

Every business today diversifies promotions based on customer segmentation. There's nothing strange about it, customer segmentation does not require some sophistication at all, one of the reasons it was 'invented' is service or product diversification to reach and resonate with different audiences and is described in every business administration book. It does not guarantee that efforts will be ultimately successful though.

"increased liquidity of players, brand knowledge, retention or whatever else." The end game of all this is to increase profits right? Its not for shi*s and giggles or to make friends.

I also find it hard to believe a double billionaire is throwing darts (maybe it will work, maybe it will not) at who gets birthday money and who does not. We live in a world of data. Every company analyzes it and and analyzes it again. We get it. Corporations are in business to make money. If you want to favor some players over others to this end that is fine. I'm sure it turns a lot of people off but that is opinion. What is not opinion is when you are running a business that is based on trust of things being random, you have to release all hand histories. The only reason the company has given for not doing it is: "people still complain about sites that do release it" That is a very weak form of whataboutism and no real reason at all. I would love to come back and have a place to play. Please do the basics and release than hand histories. Thanks.
