Which sites don't have terms like that?

hint: every site has an equivalent line in their TOS.

unbelievable. they need to unban this service. its required for taxes first off to have a log. second off its completely industry standard to be able to download HH. Bovada lets you do it and they are the most recreational friendly site there is.
THIS IS A BAD MOVE GLOBAL
HH is just keeping track of your own wins and loses it has nothing to do with beating up on recreationals or anything.
I PAID 250K IN RAKE LET ME HAVE MY ****ING HH FFS
how hard is it?
unbelievable.
ban me?
ban global.

Actually, if I recall correctly you can request a deposit/withdrawal statement from Global Poker.

Also, the IRS requires that you show some type of statements to 'deduct losses' https://www.irs.gov/taxtopics/tc419 which bank statements (money in/out) are usually good enough for according to my accountant. You should try to record the game type, time, date, players you played with, stackes, etc if you can but sometimes you cannot. Global Poker now has 'transaction history' where you can access good enough information of table buy-ins/cash-outs. This should be good enough for the IRS if you are claiming losses as well.

This is not tax advice and is meant to give an idea of the tax advice I have heard for similar situations. Seek your own legal tax advice.

I don't get it, They told players what is not accepted.

Players went ahead and did it anyways.

Now players don't like the outcome.

Why have rules if they aren't enforced.

You can go use your HH's and hud's and figure your taxes out on WPN.

How do you figure your taxes out if you play at the local casino?

Permanent ban and confiscate fund please! Clearly violating the TOS.

Why do people think in the 2018 online poker environment being so far removed from having player rewards that a site gives a flying fork about how much rake a reg pays? The entitlement is outrageous.

Was literally everyone who plays cash doing this? Only 3 tables of 200nl+ running at 9pm EST :/. Yikes.

I get the reasons for disallowing extensions like this and needing to set a precedent by dishing out suspensions, but at the same time it's kinda funny. Imagine all the players that would be generating extra rake during the suspension period. It's kinda like turning away money

i don't. afaik, the only people who got banned were using the hand downloader, not a hud. it doesn't really give an advantage. a warning email + warning popup upon login that requires acknowledgement would be more than enough. but instead they want to lose a ****ton in rake revenue. yikes lmao.

x1000 to what Kizzah said.

I wasn't using the hand converter (because TOS) but I have no idea why it is banned and it doesn't give you any kind of advantage to be able to go over your hands later and look at your stats. It's not like the converter allows you to run a HUD.

A lot of regs seem to be missing from the nl100-200 tables but it could just be a coincidence.

P.S.: What you guys should really be scared about is bots...there are quite a few on global and you can find one on Google pretty cheap. I hope Global does something botting about this and provides some kind of accurate win/loss records for players.
12-20-2018 , 12:43 AM
if it gives zero advantage and it is against the TOS why would someone use it? is tracking your results that important to risk a ban?

I mean you can know how much you win or lose based on your balance

Some really stupid posts in here. So long as you are not a complete moron there are plenty of advantages to be had by having the population data this extension would generate, it doesn't have to have players names. The fact that you rationalise this by saying "they're only cheating a bit" or "bots are worse" is one of the dumbest things I've read in a while. They are lucky they got a temp ban and not perma'd + balance withheld.

THIRD PARTY SOFTWARE AND PLAYING TOOLS
Global Poker prohibits the use of the following (and similar) types of tools and services in conjunction with its games:
..
7. Data mining activities such as, building a database of hand histories in which you did not participate.
8. Any other program provided by a source other than Global Poker that is used to record or collate a players hand data, individual or otherwise.
9. If Global Poker considers that a player has breached, or attempted to breach, any of the rules above, Global Poker may take any action or carry out penalties as it deems necessary to ensure fairness to all players. Such action may include (but is not limited to) warnings, suspensions, confiscation of bonus $weeps cash or any winnings, and the closing of your Global Poker Account or other actions as set out in our Terms of Use.
So, according to #8, if I used Notepad to record hands, or I record or stream my session with OBS, that is a violation, right? So why aren't we banning streamers?

Oddly enough you have said how good a twitch streamer is on another poker site at doing population analysis.

why do coaches offer database review if it is to no advantage for the student?

It does give an advantage... If you have a hand history log in something like holdem manager you can quickly look up much more data than you can manually enter into the note field on an opponent. Get his VPIP, 3-Bet, Show Down etc and all that other stuff available in HUD's but instead you need to take an extra step to see it.

Good work global!

It's anonymous data. You cannot download the hand histories with screen names attached it. Thus, you can't build strats on specific opponents.

100% agreed. If you are in the scene you know about Global. Still might not play there, but for sure you know about it.

I actually think quite a few of them are already here... and they just keep it quite. Not sure why they would do that since they

This.

They have said multiple times not to use the extension, but players did so anyway as they didn't see there was consequences.

When you break rules, and there isn't consequences, you can't complain when they start enforcing consequences.

Strike that. You can complain. But the complaints aren't valid.

BanMcBannedFace: "I did something against TOS and got banned. That is not nice"

Me: "You did break the rules right?"

BanMcBannedFace: "But it doesn't provide an advantage. Or stats. It isn't a HUD. Bots exist and are bad. Global has lots of other issues. I am better than Hitler. Pluto deserves to be a planet. Taxes are hard. 2018 was a bad year for music."

Me: "You didn't answer the question. You did break the rules right?"

so it raises the question : why doesn't global want anyone maintaining a large database of their hands?

Ok, i got a solid explanation from support regarding the 'level' of offences and how it affected the players.

The suspensions (7days, 30days) had more to do with the last date the extension was used.

Those that didn't get suspended were players who removed the extension and notified support that they had used it, but were no longer using it after discovering they inadvertently acted in breach of the rules.

Listen we broke their rules. They're being cool to let us stay. We had to send them a letter acknowledging we were aware of what happened and that we will not be acting in breach again. Any further breaches will result in a full ban.

Suspended players were given access to their funds if they wanted to cash out, but no access to tables until their suspension is over.
