My son just turned 18 on July 14th and is interested in setting up a GP account to begin his recreational poker career. I'm posting this before anything happens to either account, just want to make sure this is ok and not a violation of TOS of any kind.

We have no plans of trying to sit at the same table nor mtt's but if it ever does happen are we ok to do so as long as there is no soft play or collusion? Please advise.

I’m 19 and it’s perfectly legal as long as you’re 18. You’ll have to link a bank account for worldpay cashouts, mine is a joint account with my parents (they have access and their names are on it since I opened it under 18) and it was fine as long as my (his) name is on the account.

One other person asked about this before and they were told to do as you are doing, that it was fine, as long as they stayed away from the same MTTs and didn't soft play each other at ring games. This is from memory though, I could be wrong. Search the word "roomate" as I think that was their situation. I would also email support ahead of time with both screen names and head it off at the pass. That way if something does come up you can point to that email and say, "I have always been trying to be above board here"

If they are playing from the same computer, won't security protocols flag it as suspect since both accounts are playing from same IP address?

I would be very surprised if security doesn't pay attention to IP addresses, and in fact we know they do.

Several people, a while back (6 months+) came on and said their accounts got flagged for playing from the same IP when both of them were at a casino playing from their iPads.

So I think we can rest assured they notice. The question remains, how much of an indicator is the same IP address. Because the aforementioned example does happen a lot, and not just at the same casino. Sever ISP's practice something called double NAT-ing which is when you don't even get a public IP, but you share one with everyone in your neighborhood. This would obviously give the appearance of being maybe even in the same tournament or cash table, from the same IP and the people don't even know the other is playing. Hopefully at this point the security team would then start looking into play history and start asking the customer questions. I wouldn't want to see a world in which if someone connects on my IP and it isn't me, they shut us both down.

Most likely, you will get flagged once he starts playing on same and may briefly freeze your account until they "double check" your id's and then you guys will be fine to play. (happened to me and my old roommates)

BUT, the software will not allow anyone to play in the same MTT on the same ip. It wont even let you register once someone from that IP is already registered.

Always, always, always ask these questions of the site directly, no matter what site it is. Two reasons:

1) You don't want to be putting the future of your accounts on the line based on what some stranger on the Internet told you. They might get it wrong, policies may have changed, they may be extrapolating their own personal situation out to mean something it doesn't, or either you or them may have missed some subtlety about your situation that changes things.

2) Much more importantly, when you ask the site directly, you have something to fall back on if there's an issue later. If they lock up your accounts, telling them "2+2 poster XYZ said it would be fine" isn't going to hold a lot of water, whereas "Global CS Agent Dave said it would be fine" should. Of course that doesn't eliminate any possibility of an issue (nothing does at any site), but it's the best you can do.

That's not to say there's anything wrong with asking posters as well; just don't leave it at that.

I contacted Global directly and asked this same question. They said we are to never sit at the same table in ring games. I dnt remember the rest. I suggest emailing support directly.

I sent Support an e-mail asking if more than 1 person can play from the same house. This was the response:

Hello,

Thank you for contacting Global Poker Customer Support.

We understand your concern; however, as indicated on our Terms of Use 3.1.2. You are allowed to have only one Member Account on each Platform. If you attempt to open more than one Member Account, all accounts you have opened or try to open may be blocked or closed. You are also only allowed to create one account per household per IP address.

If you did try to create an account, once our system detect you are playing with the same IP, the new account will be automatically blocked. We advise to refrain from creating a different account.

Regards,
Kendall
