The line of thinking is probably that if it's purely random, fewer people will lose all five of them. Lame.

this is fine for holiday promos and I'm ok with the christmas promo so far as much as I'm opposed to other things gp has done recently. . i think the christmas promo attracts a lot of rec and new players. However I am strongly opposed to the part I bolded in your post, which I feel is what Global is trying to do to their whole site as an overall business model to maximize their profits and minimize or negate any chance for the vast majority of their player pool medium term, not even long term. They are creating a rake recycling machine where we are all supposed to not expect to win regardless of how much better we play respective to the avg opponent, and the only one who wins long term is the site.

Limited to 1200 players.

So looking at the payout structure, it appears that with the 5 player minimum that enter, 4 players get paid. I am very curious to see if they will really only pay 4 players, or if they are planning on paying 80% of the field.

Other tournaments, on the payout structure, adjust as players register (logically). And on the ones where they are announced but aren't registering, with a 5 player min, only 1st place shows gets paid.

The tournament description says 1/3 of players make the money. Suggesting that about 13% of players will get refunds.

(Probably it will actually be less. I'm not sure how to adjust for people cashing early declining to enter the later tournaments, vs. new people entering the late ones despite the promo.)

Oh yeah... reading I guess I could have done that instead of check the payout structure and ask the speculative question. Thanks for pointing it out, I will have to read these descriptions more thoroughly in the future on the promo events.

I wonder how this is going to go... I have noticed in MTT's' when two people bust out and there is a price difference between 8 and 7 place for example they both show 7 place money in the payouts... Potentially there will be 5 2nd place finishers on the final table... looks like this is going to be a 6-max tourney?

They haven't updated the page, but on FB there's an announcement that Day 7 is a $500 freeroll for anyone who plays 100 Sweeps Cash hands.

So they've brought back the promo they used to have every day for one day. Woo.

Days 8 and 9 are up.

Day 8: take a photo of yourself with a sign and terrible Christmas gear and get $5 plus entry into something or other. I guess it's free money? I stay away from terrible Christmas gear so I don't think I'm eligible anyway. I still haven't gotten around to my Eagle Cup photos.

Day 9: randomly appearing $500 freerolls. This is actually a reasonably good promotion. Still hoping they get better as the days hit double digits.

Day 11: play 5 GC MTTs and get 100k GCs.
Day 12: win or lose a hand with 4 outs on the river and get $5. This is oddly specific, and 4-outers aren't very common.

It says "any hand" and they're usually pretty good at writing their terms to what they want.
