I made this hand today online. What are the odds of making any seven card straight flush.

I believe it is between approx. 1 in 9,000,000 and 1 in 15,000,000, depending on whether the first card is towards the middle ranked cards or at the end (2 or K). If the first card is a 7 then you can have A-7, 2-8, 3-9, 4-T, 5-J, 6-Q, 7-K. if a 2 or a K then you can have on two options A-7, 2-8 or 7-K, 8-A.

Here is my approximate calculation for the first card being a 7. I don't think this is correct, but it is not a million miles away.

Would love someone smarter than me to tell me the correct answer!

I get approximately 1 in 4.18 million. I can't see the image, but I got one of those several years ago in 7 stud high/low - with A234567 of spades - for a super-scooper.

Now I wonder what the probability of getting quartered with a steel wheel is. That would be a bad beat story I wouldn't mind hearing!

The probability of getting a steal wheel in seven cards is not hard to find.

52C7 = 133,784,560 combinations of 7 cards
The low card of the SF can be A-8, so 8*4 = 32 combinations of 7-card straight flushes.

Odds are 4,180,766.5:1 against.

I actually needed to hit the straight flush on 7th street because I had only one opponent and he had a higher ace high flush.

I am usually NOT that guy, but the above probability (1 in every 4,180,767.5 deals) is correct if every deal must see the river. Which is what we typically talk about in this forum (the "pure" probability).

The probability of actually getting a 7-card straight-flush with an active hand by the river in actual real-life NLHE poker is apt to be much smaller. Many deals, of course, do not reach a river. And many hands, including those that can make a 7-card straight-flush, are folded before showdown.

I wish Spadebidder were still around since I'd be curious to know how many deals in his database of hundreds of millions of poker deals had an active 7-card straight flush.
