Is there a way to find the odds of an A high flush getting beat by a straight flush?

And yes, I would never lay down an A high flush on the off chance someone has the straight flush.

I'm just looking for the math.

Really? If the board read 8s9sTsJs and you have As4c you would never fold? Against a pretty competent player I would almost never raise on the river if the remaining stacks were deep in NLHE...that's for sure.

Wow. You got me.

Sigh.

Next stop for you ... WSOP champ.

Now show me the math.

As was mentioned in the other thread you posted about this, what are the qualifications? Are there 3 of your suit on the board or 4? How many players are there? What was the action in the hand?

Or are you just asking, if we dealt in 10 players and dealt the board out, over and over again, how often there would be both a straight flush and a flush?

The problem here seems to be you don't realize how vague this question is. It's like asking "how often am I likely to get into an accident with a red pickup truck"

Fantastic. I've been saying for weeks that what this forum needs is another smartass who comes asking for free help and is annoyed when he doesn't get it. You make a dumb statement and when someone else points it out you decide that the other person is obviously dumb. Ya that makes a lot of sense. Get lost. You definitely aren't getting my help with your problem, but I will give you some help:

Next time, try saying something like this:

"Ya, my bad. Obviously that is a situation in which I would consider folding. Now can we return to my question?"

or maybe,

"Hmmm. I never actually considered that situation. It probably does make sense to fold at some point in that spot. Thanks. Now can we return to my question?"

Your welcome.

The short answer is no, because it depends on how people play.

If you know for example, that your opponent will only raise with a SF and he raises, then the odds are 100% that he has the SF.

On the other hand, if the board does not make a SF possible, then the odds are zero.
