Hi, can someone inform me how my EV is calculated from this hand :

I read somewhere that EV = %W*W - ( %L*L)

so I plugged in via https://www.cardplayer.com/poker-too...r/texas-holdem

and AK has 67.4% chance of winning against 27.93%

is it EV = 0.674*3191 (the size of the pot?) -0.2793*1503 (what I can loose (since my BB is already out there not a part of what im risking?))

= 2150,73 - 419,78
= 1730,95 ?

or is my W (size of the pot) not the right W ?

Your W is incorrect, since you included your raise as part of the winnings. If you win the hand you win the blinds, antes and opponent's bets plus previous bets of yours, which comes to 1598, I believe.

Also, since this is a tournament, a better analysis for an all-in bet would be to use $EV based on the prize structure rather than chip EV by applying the ICM model, where your equity is adjusted to account for stack sizes through what has been termed the bubble factor, popularized in the book Kill Everyone. What results is that you need higher equity in a tournament than for a cash game, the reason being that a fold in a cash game has zero EV while for a tournament EV of a fold is greater than zero.

Thank you for your input, so in the above example, i'm still trying to figure this out where did you get 1598, isn't it

EV = %W*W - (%L*L)

Hero [As Kc] vs Villain [Ac 4c]

pot is 6*4 (ante) + 15(sb) + 30(bb) + villain raise 60 = 129

we shove for 1563 so W = 129 + 1503 (our raise which he then calls) = 1632

EV = %W * W - (%L*L)

%W = 0.674
W = 1632
%L = 0.2793
L = 1563 (our starting stack (minus ante)

EV = 0.674*1632 - 0.2793*1563
= 1099,968 - 436,5459
= 663,4221

so here I don't go all-in preflop and this is 3way

Hero [Qd 8c] vs Villain1 [Td Ah] vs Villain2 [Qh 5d]

pot preflop is 8*120(ante) + 300(sb) + 600(bb) + 1200 (villain1 raise) + 855(villain 2 calls allin preflop) + 600(hero call from bb) = 4515

flop is [ 5s 7s 9d ] and I stop and go / donk shove 1700 all-in

Hero [Qd 8c] = 26,91%
Villain1 [Ah Td] = 23,36%
Villain2 [Qh 5d] = 49,17%

EV = %W*W - (%L*L)
so W in this case would be 4515+1700 ? = 6215 and L = 1700 (my stacksize after the flop?)
= 0.2691*6215 - 0.7309*1700
= 1672,4565 - 1242,53
= 429,96

Basically is the L always my stacksize at the point that I go allin (what im risking to win this pot), but im still trying to get my head around the W I guess..

edit: that 2nd hand has to be wrong, how can that be a plus EV 429 ..

edit2: or what ? I do have a gutshot and 2 live cards so it might not be crazy ?

Basically that Qd 8c hand happened somewhere here

https://www.photobox.co.uk/my/photo/...d=501317824225

so I don't see where EV could be 430 and I loose 3k chips ..

edit: has to be hand 80 since i loose just more than 3k chips there, but there my EV is negative 630 or so
