So I am trying to do the math on this and im struggling.
A box of baseball cards has 1 chrome auto in every 6 boxes. Of the chrome autos that can occur there are 20 players. If one of the 20 is mike trout what is the true odds of opening a box and getting a mike trout autograph.
So 1:6 is a chrome
1:20 is mike trout
2 events 1 outcome = ??

First of all, don't write it as 1:6 etc - that has a specific different meaning. A 1 in 6 chance is 1/6.
Second, this is a case where you can just multiply the probabilities, so it's
1/6*1/20 = 1/120
(I don't want any money, people generally just answer questions for free here)

Is this a real-world problem, or hypothetical? If hypothetical, then I agree with Rusty. If it is real-world, then it depends on the distribution of the players. The fact that there are 20 different players does not mean that each one has a 1 in 20 chance. They might produce very few Mike Trouts in order to increase the rarity of the most coveted card (I don't know it is the most coveted, just suggesting that this is possible). Unless they say that all 20 players have equal probability, I would not assume it.
