What's the most obscure Caro tell you've ever seen? What's the most obscure Caro tell you've ever seen?

For me, it was when people still smoked at the table, 4/8 with a maniac.

I remember reading Caro's book and laughing at the super specific ones like this. I've never seen any of the other specific ones, if memory serves.

A friend of mine wanted to play live to see what it was like. This was when internet poker was first booming.

He's seated across me along the long axis of the table, so I could easily watch him. Right away, I knew he'd been dealt AA or KK. He plays it by the book, until one of the old school maniacs raises him out of no where on the flop.

I was puzzled by the stupidity for a second until maniac takes a yuge drag off his cigarette and blows it upwards, slightly towards the middle of the table. Paydirt.

I give my friend a look of "you better ram and jam this, or this is our last trip", more or less. He bets and raises all the way and of course takes it down with maniac mucking at showdown.

It's one of the "strong means weak" moves.

How about you?

So many times ive seen someone get dealt a monsterhand and then start to look away from the table, only looking back when the dealer urges him to. Classic Mike Caro.

The 'look away' isn't very obscure but it is classic and a 'top 5' in value along with the glancing/grabbing of chips when a card hits the Turn or River.

Not having Caro's book memorized I'm not sure what might be the most obscure, but I've seen a huge influx of false tells along with Players who are acting pretty weak when they have the 3rd nuts. (Like a Queen high flush that's really worried about the better two)

So make sure you get some intel and also consider what story you are telling that may scare someone as well ... but they're not folding anyway.

If I must pick an obscure tell I would go with blinking rate. You definitely need intel on this one, but a Player who is staring and 'trying' not to blink or over blinking with lots of eye movement is giving off information .. you just need to figure out what information that is before acting on it. OP was banned in December.

Not really sure why this thread would get any traction as I am sure with tells, the major stuff is all one ever needs to worry about.

something that happens a lot if someone is has a monster they double check to make sure everyone checked before they go. (i think even i have done this before)

I agree that the 'Is it on me' and 'How much' verbal statements can predict an above average interest in the hand should they choose to continue ... and especially if they raise. GL
