Edited title.

As a general rule for recreational players, when they choose a bet-size than is much larger than you would think an average player would size a bluff, it's going to be for value. Most rec players are just thinking "my opponent's either going to call or fold so I shouldn't waste too much money on a bluff" and they'll usually size bluffs somewhere around 1/2 to 3/4 of the pot. A big pot-sized bet will make strong hands quite likely. My two cents.

No idea about what led up to it with the small bets; that could be anything.

It mostly depend on the player. If you see this as the patternt most likely it will be the same forever.
Really good regs do this with value hands and some player just bomb to steal.
You have to categorize your opponent

My vote is for value, the reversal (he thinks it's a bluff because it's so big) ploy.

This type of line doesn't make much sense. Gives you something on villain, though. Could be massive overvalue or just as easily a bluff. Safe to believe its weighed towards value, wouldn't call off light here.

I've encountered this betting pattern (usually starts with a donk bet) when a fish hits low or mid pair otf and then picks up a second pair on the river.

As a poor player myself... i could see them doing it with a monster hand on a dry flop with no draws they dont want to have it checked through and miss getting anything in the pot. Same with a safe turn. And barrelling river to try and get the max hoping youll call.

On a wet flop i could see it as a stupid blocker bet until the draw comes in and bomb it Ive seen that at the micros.

But yeah probably value.
