Hi,

I completed Caro's book on Poker Tells. I also watched Elwood's series on youtube regarding poker tells(Free videos). I found Elwood's series quite useful because I can actually see players demonstrating those tells in real (Rather than acting).

Question:-
  • Which poker Video should I follow to practice reading tells. In short any suggestion for poker video series full of amateur players(Preferably on Youtube or free at least)?
  • Books are great but kind of passive when it comes to learning. Any resource to study/learn/practice poker tells in a more involved manner (Homework style)

If there's one thing you should've learned from both Caro and Elwood ... you need to develop a history with each Player before you 'should' consider a tell to be worthy of influencing a poker decision.

Yes, there are some 'standard' behaviors, both physical and poker game-play related, that are fairly universal but you probably shouldn't put a huge portion of your decision making into these tells that early in the session.

The best way to experience tells is in live low stakes poker, but as you should've learned as well ... The higher the stakes, the less likely these Players (who tend to be better Players) will give off any tells to begin with, which makes it even harder to establish a pattern.

If you are into binge watching and have access somehow ... I really enjoyed the TV series "Lie to Me" which ran a few years back and the DVDs also included a world wide 'expert' on human behavior who was hired to consult with the show. I forget his name, but he also has some books out there to read. GL

@goodfellas: Not sure if you know, but I have a video series that is different from the free youtube videos. It's at www.readingpokertells.video; you can see the videos in the course on that page, too.

Let me know if you have any questions about it.
