im a firm believer that staring down your opponents is an effective method of intimidation and for spotting tells so whenever I play live I try to do this
here's the problem. I'm now starting to do this in my everyday life. for example just recently I was in a club dancing with this girl who seemed interested, so I gave her a good stare down mile mcdonald style for a good 30 seconds I was trying to read her race to see if she was keen. she wasn't and I blew my opportunity
so my question is: how do I separate my poker life from everyday life
Poker is a game ... chasing tail is a game too. Just remember that they have different rules! If you get caught staring away from poker try to smile or nod your head in 'approval' and see where it goes from there. No one wants their soul read before they've even met you. GL
I see nothing wrong with what you did. In fact, I think you should have been more aggressive to prove how alpha you are. A little humor goes a long way too - my favorite line with girls I just meet is "I've got the nuts" and it's proven to be quite successful in getting a reaction out of potential targets.
