Where should one go for a vacation, if the intention is to play live poker and do some snorkeling?

Live poker, like snorkeling, involves spending a lot of time with the fish. The difference with snorkeling being you are the one breathing through your mouth.

When I was last there, both Aruba and St. Maarten (on the Dutch side) spread poker. Florida is a good choice too.

Just came back from Puerto Rico. Unfortunately the economy crisis have killed a lot of casinos in San Juan, and I could only find two with poker tables. Marriot had a 65$ buy-in texas hold'em tournament on tuesdays and thursdays, Sheraton had one or two 2/5 cash game tables going daily. Looking for a place with a little more poker tables. I've made some research, and looks like Aruba and Curacao would be the best choices.

I also called the only poker room in St. Croix. They only have 10/20 and 15/30 games.

I checked room rates at the Carina Bay resort & casino and most nights are $500 for the cheapest room type.

That might make for a pretty good 10/20NL game. If you don't want to play that high (I wouldn't want to), you might be able to sell off 50% of your action to make it a 5/10 game for you?

FWIW, maybe we went to the wrong spots but I wasn't impressed with snorkeling in Cancun.

I assumed it's no limit, but if you want to make sure, email fran@carinabay.com. The games run every friday, and on saturdays and sundays if there's enough players.

Too bad the game is too big for me, we have a cheapish flight from Finland to St Croix.

Fran also had this to say: "I suggest trying Maho Bay in St. Martin. They have a poker room."

Ever. Smallest game on the place, a lot of tourists with money to burn and a local population that probably doesn't have a ton of access to poker. If that game really goes off and you're a decent player you could probably pay for your vacation there.
