the hand takes a few minutes. it begins around 14? minute mark. ivey raises the flop with a wrap and fires the turn when he picks up a flush draw and the board pairs. Dwan pluckily calls down with top pair and a gutty. On the turn ivey gives off a tell that he is weak. He gives off the opposite tell on the river, when he fills up, and is strong. Can you spot them? Can you read the great one?

Maybe Dwan saw it too. Amazingly he called on the flop and turn with top pair, but folded on the river when he made an unlikely straight, beaten only by a full house.

BONUS ROUND :

During the video I linked above, Brandon Adams plays pretty tight during the first 20 minutes. At the start of the video, and again during the early middle, he gives off two indications that he might be a tight player. What are those indications?

I would find this a lot more informational if you just went ahead and offered the insight you are alluding to without employing the message-board game show format.

He's right, you know--you're acting like a know-it-all, insinuating that there's only one right answer to each of these questions and you know it.

I, too am curious about your endless wealth of knowledge. Also, something to note, when I watched that link it showed all the players hole cards. So it was abundantly clear to me when Ivey was strong or weak.

Ivey gives a thumbs up on the river when he makes his full house.

Ivey and Dwan was having a conversation and laughing, on the turn Ivey suddenly became very quiet (indicate not having a strong hand) and bet which was called by Dwan. On the river, he double checked his hand and became very relaxed to a point he jokingly tried to peak at Dwan's hand and even made some sort of jokes right before Dwan decided to fold.

Of course we got to see all the cards so the "tells" are easier to see, to be honest, it was a good fold by Dwan.

OP might be the douchiest poster in all of 2+2. Would love to hear his expert reads on Ivey based on 1 hand and assumption that Dwan's decisions are 100% decided on physical tells.

I don't understand all the hate directed towards OP. You guys are free to not read his posts.

I, for one, enjoyed the challenge of trying to find what others did or couldn't find. And yes, tells aren't an exact science, so opinions may differ.

I noticed Ivey's lips press together right after the turn bet.

Definitely a weakness tell.

Note Ivey's shoulders and chin position OTT and how they change OTR.

The goal is for you to learn how to see this stuff.

For example (not in this hand), define a "pacifying" tell. It's usually someone holding themselves, or rubbing. But I've seen it be a puffed out lip, or puffed cheeks. Once, it was the guys girlfriend holding him and that he was taking comfort from it.

The OP is trying to help you study, but you seem to just want the answer without any work.

Not quite sure what exactly OP is looking at here. I see a bunch of potential stuff here that conflicts.

1) On the Turn Ivey does the pursed lips and eyebrow raise after he bets (with a flip) which may lead us to believe that he knows the board got more complicated and yet he bet anyway. He also wont look at Dwan, which is typically a sign of strength, not weakness. Dwan also takes a bit (with physical weakness) of time on the Turn, not unusual for Tom but may imply that he also sees the board as more complicated and trying to figure out what Phil is 'telling' him with his bet/tells.

2) On the River Phil bets a little more confidently (strong) and yet starts looking at Dwan (weak, or dominating) to get a better read on what Tom's going through.

These 2 have played so much poker together that tells (and false tells) are probably second nature to them within the dynamic. In a vacuum I think Phil seems 'disappointed' with the Turn and yet bets it anyway (It's PLO!!) since he was the aggressor on the Flop and does have a lot of ways to improve (all of which could be crushed). This truly is a 'bet for information' IMO (not value) and Tom pretty much lets Phil know he has as much concern for the board as he does by his actions and by just flatting the bet. I think Phil pretty much knows that he got lucky on the River and smirks off his value to Tom in the process. Tom's action on the River let Phil know he's good and then is smart enough to get away from it. GL
