So, I just got back from Vegas and have a few minor/tedious thoughts/rants I'd like to share. I know some of these wont be popular, and I'll be called old or lame, but I'm a big boy, I can handle it, I wont go the "AcesFlow" route.

1) I am officially never playing 1-2 again. I finished up a few grand at $2-5 and lost just under a grand at $1-2. About five sessions each. (I stayed almost a week) One hand sums up why I hate 1-2. I wasnt in this hand and yet I'm still tilted from watching it. A guy has A-8 on the button. Flop comes A 7 2 rainbow. A bet, a call, and he calls on the button. Turn is an 8, it checks around to him and he checks. WHY? River is an A giving him a full house, it checks around to him and he checks. I. Dont. Get. 1-2. It's just a mystery I'll never solve. I am used to playing 1-2 while waiting for a 2-5, but no more. It's just not worth it. You get Aces and make it $15 and everyone folds, you make it $10 the next time and get 5 callers and now your Aces are useless. I give in 1-2, you win.

2) Planet Hollywood, you have one monitor showing the lists that no one in the poker room can see since it faces away from the tables. So, if I'm sitting at a table waiting to play, I have no idea how close I am to being called. If I am at a 1-2 table and want to get into a 2-5 table, I have no idea how long the list is, and I may be the only name on it for awhile early in the day. You have literally 12 monitors in the playing area, and you cant have them show the lists for 5 seconds every 5 minutes or so? I'm supposed to get up all the time to check? (sure, tedious, but it's annoying, this is Vegas, you can pull this off)

3) Planet Hollywood, after 8PM and the party kicks in with the loud music (which I loved by the way) they still use the microphone to announce who is up next to play. Again, 95% of people arent walking all the way around to check the list every few minutes and your use of the microphone is a joke. No one can hear what you are saying. I only heard it since the 2-5 table is right by the sign up table/microphone guy and at that it was so muffled, I only knew the guy was talking, not who he called. You cant have the dude's name who is up next flash on the 12 monitors for a few seconds?

4) Sushi. I went to three buffets, granted, not top-line, MGM, Luxor, Mandalay, and my grocery store sushi back home was infinitely superior. How hard is it to put a nice-sized piece of fish and avocado and wrap an appropriate amount of rice around it? All the pieces had minute sized amounts of fish, and way too much rice, even a low end buffet back home / grocery store can make it right, but not a Vegas buffet?

5) WTF is with the phone/devices addiction in this country? Stop watching the movies, stop endlessly texting, pay the f attention to the game. Every hand takes twice as long as needed because some jagoff or three doesnt know it is his/her turn. I look at the table and 5 people have their heads down with ear buds in. And if you need to charge your before 3PM you have issues. How much can you be on it in the morning or lunchtime? Didnt you charge it overnight while you slept? Must you have constant distraction/stimulation from your own thoughts? How unhealthy it must be to a total slave to your device. If there wasnt the "all-in" button it would be all too tempting to throw in $35 and say "all-in" with the nuts hoping they didnt hear the "all-in" and hope they throw in $35 not knowing they called an all-in. An angle? Absolutely, sure, but f them, if they want to handicap themselves by not being able to hear what's happening or even watch the action, that's their punishment. Pay attention. Fortunately, the rooms have saved me from my darker temptations and helped the phone slaves from this with the all-in button

6) Too. Many. Bad. Tattoos. You look hideous. Yes, even you hot chick with some stupid giant thigh tat, or back tat, or even worst some stupid script on your forearm. You cant improve a woman's body with tats. Never happens. And the big ol' boob tat? Seriously? At what point did that seem like a good idea? All I think of when I see a boob tat is "is that where I am supposed to aim?" The whole tat craze cant end soon enough. Been going on for 20 years now. You all look ridiculous. Yes, I said it.

7) Kids dont belong in Vegas. You see strollers at 10PM! Or even later. You had a kid, you accept that trips to Vegas are out unless you get a sitter or dont have a kid at all. Kids walking around with their parents in a casino at 9pm? For what? What's in it for the kid? And what's in it for the parents?

8) Caesar's, you know you have too many tables. I sat at a 2-5 table and it was impossible for someone to pass between me and the table behind me without bumping into my chair every time. I got a seat change so someone else could be irritated. Waitresses, chip runners, players, everyone saying "sorry" and I'm not a big guy at all. I couldnt focus at all. It is just wrong to have the layout like that. Someone is always going to be massively distracted.

9) What is with the "drop the bomb" play at 2-5? You get to the river, you make a $100 bet into a pot of $175 wanting to get paid with a very strong holding that you have been betting into all the way, then these guys who buy in for $2500 when the table average buyin is $1000 or less and always have at least 15 black chips pause for the longest time, then pick up 3, 4, or 5 black chips and drop em in quietly always from about 6 inches off the table. You call them, and they muck. How many times do they have to see it not work before they stop? I only wish I had more opportunities to call those bets. I saw a guy lose $4k over the course of a few hours doing this bet over and over. He was watching "live at the bike" on his phone most of the session. I purposely started underbetting the river heads up with these guys just to "bring on the bomb!" They cant help themselves. You sit there and say to yourself, "come on, you know you want to, you cant help yourself, you have to, drop the bomb on me baby!"

10) MGM, that pyramid promotion on full houses is obnoxious.

11) Still love me some Vegas poker, but these are some simple things that just need to be addressed.

Stopped reading at your complaint about buffet sushi. What’s next, the gas station burrito gave you diarrhea?

Vegas has some of the better Japense restaurants in the country. Go to Kabuto or Yui Edomae if you want to get some good sushi. Use a couple hundred bucks of the couple grand you won to go there instead of taking the lowest route possible and eat sushi at a low quality buffet. That’s just sad and complaining about it is pathetic.

Every poker room in Vegas is a complete joke outside of the Aria, Bellagio, Venetian, and Wynn.

The bellagio room is a **** show too imo. I enjoyed my time playing 1-2 and 2-5 at mgm and ph a few weeks ago.

I enjoyed reading this more than I thought I would though. The small kids in Vegas being pushed in strollers down the strip while mom and dad drunk pina coladas from the yard glass is pretty wtf. I do like me a well tatted girl but the single asymmetric boob tat just doesnt do it for me.

1/2 in Vegas is a 'card' game, not poker .. and you should treat it as such. You should 'always' be able to step up in stake in Vegas and feel comfortable at the table. Did you have a chance to play any 5/10? Don't let Vegas diminish the profitability of 1/2 when you make the adjustments to play it the way it needs to be played ... and then go to 2/5 and play differently for sure. GL

I'm not asking for "better" sushi in Vegas, I would just like it to be equal to that which I can get from the guy making $12 an hour in a grocery store.

A sushi roll is not supposed to contain 75% rice and 10% fish.
The Luxor which holds over 6,000 people can afford to make decent sushi as can Mandalay and MGM.

It's not exhausting if you like it!

That which draws me to poker, the enjoyment and process of analyzing each hand and player/personality also draws me to observing the world.

I cant just turn off how my brain works away from the table.

When I see a player make the same mistakes over and over again I ask myself, "what are they thinking?" "how can they not see this isnt working?"

And the same thing goes thru my head when I see a gorgeous woman who has a giant ink blotch on her shoulder/chest/back (which she cant even see!) or boob. Why? Why would you do that?

This entire site and the game of poker is essentially being concerned with others, so I guess every post here bothers you.

Did you post this same complaint in the "most annoying player" thread?
I mean, that entire thread is being concerned with others

Gotta say, I'm guessing you have a bunch of tats and dont like reading criticism of that decision. If you like em, that's all that matters.

not sure why you expect good sushi at the luxor.

i'm with you on the people on their devices with headphones slowing the game up.

I'm also not sure why you complain about people playing bad poker.

I kind of agree with most of this....except, I don't eat sushi. In that regards, I think you gonna git what you pay for. Try a higher end buffet (Bellagio, Caesars), or a sushi place.
PH and Caesars, yep, have stayed/played both of those in the last 90, agree totally. Could be a lot better run, and floor planned.
Kids in Vegas- I plead semi-guilty here. Wife and I take Three Nieces every summer for two weeks, for the last ten years. (We just got back from London) No, they arent in strollers, oldest is now 22. But, when you take a vacation with kids, THEY have to be the primary focus, not you or your wretched gaming habits. We usually stayed at Signature, (with a lot of other families), never walked the strip much with them, did other type activities, went out for dinner early, and generally stayed out of other adult peoples way. I wrote a trip report on TripAdvisor a few years back about taking teen girls to LV, and it was pretty well received. But, I totally agree on the kids in strollers on The Strip at 10pm. gawd.
