I join your game with the max buy in. I am a late 30's early 40's (MAWG), with spikey gel'd hair, black rimmed glasses, a polo t shirt, or maybe a UCONN or other standard hoodie in the winter, wear khaki shorts and flip flops in the summer, jeans and sneakers, or perhaps timberlands in the winter to go with the hoodie, I have a rolex (I wear it 75% of the time 25% of the time without for balance), I usually show up with Starbucks, but over time order waters/sparkling waters (but again you wont' know that for several hours), I am married and wear a wedding ring, I say a quiet "hey guys" or "what's up" to the dealer, but do not make a lot of eye contact or act overly friendly to anyone and really don't start conversation unless directly spoken to by another player. Tip normally - $1 dollar per drink, don't get massages, dont' ask any questions to anyone. I never wait for the big blind to play - ever.

I play mostly 1/3, 2/5 and occasionally 5/10 NLHE. I play 1-2 and 2-5 PLO. When I can, I play 10-20 mix or 20-40 mix or LHE

Fire away - what player type am I? How am I going to play?

Probably the most important question you didn't answer in my opinion is what game/stakes are you playing?
A player playing $1-$2 wearing a genuine rolex is going to get a far different image from me than someone wearing it in $5-$10NLH.

Updated - mostly low stakes but I splash around at 5/10 NLHE and some mid stakes limit

You’re fairly straight-forward, might limp too much, don’t get out of line. I’m going to put pressure on you, because you probably fold too much, especially when the bets get big.

Depends on your weight.

If you are in shape, I'm going to assume you've got your s*** together and are at least a decent TAG. If you have a massive beer belly, I'm going to assume you are lazy slob and are at the casino after your 9-5 job, I expect to see plenty of limp/folding and overall passive play because playing too aggressively opens up variance and you may be sent to the rails early and have to spend time with the nagging wife and kids.

I always find someone that looks/acts like that thinks that they play TAG but actually play too loose/passive before the flop and too weak-tight after the flop, but that's just me.

thinks he's a tag but probably more tight passive... maybe loose passive when he's stuck. doesn't bluff a lot doesn't really get out of line doesn't pay off much only 3b with strong range never polarized always linear.

Ask me in three orbits because I've lost too much money trying to play against a stereotype.

These are all extremely interesting in the sense that it absolutely validates my thought process around what I think people think about me ....often times I wonder if I level myself into certain lines/plays because of it. I’m quite sure I do. What is amazing, is that sometimes I actually think I call off too wide because my mind tricks itself into thinking I’m getting pushed around because of my image but really it’s that no one is over bet bluffing rec dad (even if he has opened a bit more frequently this session than originally anticipated)

Honestly at the stakes your playing people are level one and simply play the style they’re comfortable with so trying to use your perceived image to level your opponent is probably usually a mistake until 5/t+ and even then people adapt to others styles rather slowly. Honestly what i described is the best strategy vs 90% of player pool at 1-2 and 2-5.

You should focus more on profiling other players as that’s where you should actually adapt in llsnl

Work in finance/numbers .. like a 'small time' accountant or auditor/tax/compliance, not in trading or banking unless 'in the background' of a large office. Live a pretty ABC life but come to the casino to see/experience some excitement. Playing 5/10 isn't a stretch but your cash is 'watched' at home so lower stakes will have to do to avoid major swings.

Early in session very TAG but after a few hours the wheels will start to loosen a bit and you'll start to open from EP more often and open/3b-fold (if tested) a few times before heading home barely after Midnight.

If you're getting hole cards then you wont wander too much, but if card dead things will open up and you might try a play or two.

I use physical, timing and bet sizing tells way more than clothing. I can't tell the difference between the good stuff or fake so jewelry wont impress me other than if I think there's too much! GL

Not enough info to make an image. Could be a MAGWEP, could be a L/P Rec Dad. Leaning towards MAGWEP with the mix of spiky hair and rolex, but would observe for a while before assuming.

Educated. Understands numbers and poker concepts.
Not a pure gambler. Not a drinker. Counts dollars. Likes the game for its own sake. Keeps score in $, but plays for the challenge of the game itself, not as a living nor for the social interaction.
Very conscious of his appearance and image.
Does not wish to be seen as a nerd.
Polite.
Does not wish to stand out or verbally dominate table.
Probably bluffs only as a very calculated and conscious decision, not as a natural action. My guess is that he probably thinks he should bluff more often than he does but is reluctant to do so. My further guess is that he will look for an opportunity to bluff early in the game, but then back off hard if it fails.
As a player, certainly not LAG, probably somewhere on the spectrum between TAG, tight-passive and loose-passive. (Based on first appearance only, I would guess that he's a lot less aggressive than he'd like to be, but I could be quite wrong about this.)
Occasional spasms of over-aggressiveness when frustrated.
All of the above subject to revision based on OP's actual play.
Oh, and if he's going to leave the Rolex home 25% "for balance", he probably should show up with Dunkin' Donuts coffee 25% for the same reason.

But he said he barely speaks. Silent white dudes who dress like they're from a GAP ad (flip flops??????????????) almost always play straight-forward.

If he were talkative with the same attire, I would peg him exactly on what you said.

Personally, I believe that I can only bluff in very specific spots because I look (age included) and dress like a bluffaholic / maniac.

I am typecast as an OMC at the table, although I have a ponytail, yet it is totally grey. I love being typecast, by the way, especially by young players. First off, I am not going to make a judgement until I see you play, but I am old enough that gel in spiked hair is really weird unless it is a young person. The Rolex means absolutely nothing, the only time I have ever seen a "Rolex" was when I was in Iraq and the knockoffs cost $50 for two of them, a male and a female watch. They lasted at most a month, although they actually looked really high quality and cool. I bought one set just to find out if it was actually worth buying more for friends and family back home. It wasn't. I would have absolutely no clue what brand your watch was and I wouldn't care. If anything, it would say you have money to burn.

The hoodie gives me pause for someone in their 30s. Not sure what I would think about that, maybe that you are posturing? Not really sure, I guess it would depend if you were using the hoodie or not. It would also depend on if you were wearing sunglasses. I hate sunglasses at a table, wish they were banned, and am going to think worse of anyone wearing them. Same with people wearing headphones and constantly on their phone. I want to take these people's money more than the social rec player who is having a good time.

I would notice you are not drinking alcohol and give you some respect just for that. Your dress would also tell me you probably have some disposable income. Your lack of social graces at the table might say you are more serious about poker than others. Or, it might say you are a jerk. LOL. But, I am going to have to see you play and am not going to typecast you other than thinking you will probably rebuy if you bust out.

Bottom line is you would get respect from me until you prove otherwise.
