Hey thanks.
Yeah, I'm sure you can phrase it this way. There are definitely differences in behaviors, for sure, between inexperienced and more experienced players. It tends to vary so much, though, that I usually just try to study opponents on a case-by-case basis.
But, as you say, bet-timing will be hugely different. Trying to think of other examples. Mainly I think it just comes down to more experienced players being harder to read. I mean, I'm more likely to trust a cold read of someone I view as inexperienced versus someone I view as experienced. If I believe, for whatever reason, that they're experienced, I'm much more likely to ignore something they do or say and wait to see more hands from them. Because they're just more likely to be balanced and/or tricky.
Another sign that a player will tend to adhere to more normal patterns is when they've got a lot of variation in their behavior. Like, for example, when a player is doing all sorts of things differently in one hand versus another. If someone has a lot of variety (example: looking toward you after betting in one hand and then looking down after betting in another hand), it's a sign you should be studying them. Whereas if a player is super-consistent and stoic from one hand to another, that's a sign you probably won't be giving you much.
I don't know if that really helps but I tried
