Like the title states, but I think its a tell more than a strategy. Ill start with a player today, middle 20's asian with a hoody. Action is limped to him and he opens allin for 100...

I put him on a weak range, including pocket 10 or jj, and then some aces suited, and then junk? I see it frequently where a new player shows up and goes allin with rags to create some sort of lag image. I also see weak/scared players do it with 10s or jacks. I dont see many other open allins, let alone the first hand on the table.

Assuming 1/2 ... I don't think you will see much junk here. Short BI (50bb) players usually want to gii and/or show an aggressive image so that they can gii soon. I would put this on pp/AX/KQs type of range, which IMO really isn't that weak for a flip, even JTs is in there a bit.

Yes, the player is 'setting' an image but IMO he is just re-enforcing an image that I have already given him since he short bought. GL

44=pp ... V is willing to guess that he can pick up 10%+ increase in stack or flip short on first hand while setting up aggressive image. We should all be so lucky as to increase our stack by 10%.

I'm not saying I do this, but with limping players, hard to have a pp anyway ... shove away!! GL

I do it whenever I play stakes that are WAYYYY beneath me. For example, the $0.10/0.20 NL live

And I will do it with pretty much 90% of my range including 85o. I will only *not* do it with very few hands. It sets tone for a LAGTARD image. It's also a whole lot of fun.

Don't be surprised if high roller blackjack and baccarat whales come to your $2/5 NL and start doing this PF or OTF with bottom pair, weak draws, etc.

He has a pair between 22 and JJ, or KQs/AJo-AQs. He isn't doing this with premiums and AK, because he ultimately wants folds, but won't be completely embarrassed if someone calls.

If I see a player do this who has been playing the table "normally" for a while, I tend to assume it is much more likely 99-JJ.
