Episode 338 with Matt Glassman: https://www.thinkingpoker.net/2020/1...matt-glassman/

Matt is one of our all-time favorite guests. He's a political scientist and an avid card player who explains government and politics through the lenses of game theory and card strategy. He's brilliant, funny, and all-around entertaining.

LOL, I've listened to hundreds!

While we're on the literature front, Andrew, which Focault would you recommend if I had to read just one?

Nate, my daughter was born in 2000 and we have now had a year-long running debate about critical legal theory in which she bases some of her arguments on a close reading of Focault, who I've never read. That's my way of saying that they grow up hella fast, and faster than you think.

Probably Discipline & Punish. It can get a bit tedious, but I imagine you're an experienced skimmer.

I assume you've already read the major CLS/CLT pieces? Otherwise I'd think those would be a better starting point. They might well explain the relevant concepts better than Foucault himself, who is not widely celebrated for his clarity.

Been a while since I updated this, so here are some recent favorite episodes:

Duncan Palamourdas - Poker author, professor of Mathematics, and all-around smart and charismatic guy. Interview went really long because we were having so much fun with it! https://www.thinkingpoker.net/2021/0...n-palamourdas/

Ten Years of Carlos Welch - There are no bad Carlos episodes, but this one is especially fun as he looks back on the ten years since he first visited the WSOP as an unapologetic fanboy buying all the merch and taking pictures of "TV pros". https://www.thinkingpoker.net/2021/0...-carlos-welch/

Good episode.

Please more strategy content like this and guests of similar quality.

Also just realized Uri's website say's "Beyond Balance," which is the exact same thing Poker Detox has as their mantra.

Thanks, Ivey #1 Fan. FWIW Matt Glassman is strongly in favor of vaccinating as many people as possible, not just for your personal safety but for getting the country and economy back on track. He's a great follow on Twitter!

Thanks very much for answering that question as it is highly delicate issue for many. Love your podcasts. Brilliant

With 8 years' and well over 300 episodes' worth of content, the Thinking Poker Podcast is one of the longest-running poker shows out there. The hosts, Andrew Brokos (that's me!) and Nate Meyvis are both long-time 2+2 members whose friendship began on the MTT forum back in 2007.

Most of our shows feature a strategy segment and an interview, with guests ranging from some of the biggest names in the industry to everyday players with interesting stories and unique perspectives on the poker world.

We'll mostly use this thread to announce new episodes, answer questions, and discuss with listeners, but for those new to the show, here are some personal favorites from the archive:

Carlos Welch - My all-time favorite. It was a blast to record, and I made a great friend from it. Carlos is fascinating, entertaining, hilarious, and wise. This is his first appearance, but he went on to become a big part of the show.

Mike McDonald - A top tier strategy discussion with a top tier player. Plus some 2+2 nostalgia.

Christian Soto - Two friends, freshly eliminated after deep runs in a WPT Main Event, commiserate and joke about tournament pain.

Jamal Hanson - Jamal is an amazing guy in his own right, but he also introduces us to the fascinating world of high-stakes prison poker. Learn what he used for chips, how he negotiated with guards, how he moved money on the outside, and much more.

Maria Konnikova - We have a more recent interview with her about The Biggest Bluff, but this was from 2018, when she was still early in her poker journey. Quick, funny, and insightful, Maria is pretty much the perfect podcast guest.

Dick Carson - Dick is an old-school gambler, pool hustler, bookie, and poker player. He’s also a hulluva storyteller and a helluva nice guy. We talk about the best poker players you never heard of, the early days of the World Series of Poker, handicapping by hand, getting shaken down by Anthony “The Ant” Spilotro, the most expensive bottle of wine he ever bought, and more.

And for 2+2 fans, we've also interviewed Mason Malmuth and David Sklansky.
Episode 259 Christian Holden. Another amazing podcast! Keep up the fantastic work

Latest episode, out on 7/9 has to be the happiest. Frequent guest and Cohost of Thinking Poker Daily, Carlos Welch just won a WSOP Bracelet, winning the $888 for $127K.

They wasted no time recording it; in fact, Carlos still hadn't gone to sleep as of the recording. WAY TO GO Carlos!!
