I want to start streaming poker on twitch. Just looking for some motivation and more importantly some guidance on building a successful poker stream.
About me
-26 year dude from Las Vegas
-started playing online in 2014
-play on wsop.com (one of the few online regulated poker sites in the USA)
-play micro/small stake MTT's and SNG's occasional cash
Why I want to stream
-Share and learn more about poker and myself

What time would you be streaming at? I presume US friendly times rather than EU friendly.
If your motivation is to learn then you really don't have to do to much other than have a set up that isn't painful for the viewer to watch and to be active in interacting with the chat.
I'd point out though, if you look on the right panel of this page, you will usually be steaming to a handful of people most of whom are will load the stream and never say anything in chat. To grow a stream you need to be generic, use rec friendly buzzwords and team up with other streamers for a virtual circle jerk after which you tell your viewers about how great you all are.
The buzzwords are important. It gives your viewers a phrase to spam in chat while they watch you try and make money. If you do well, they might even give you money for having been successful in making money. Once that's all underway you can rest easy knowing that what you are doing on screen is irrelevant, the people are hooked, you can lose money on the felts and take your viewers money off it.
Good luck.

OP - most important thing is to have fun with it. You can get started relatively cheaply. Get a good mic and camera though, I think those things are more important than most people think. I would not worry about getting an overlay right off the bat. See if you enjoy it and if you want to stick with it before investing in that. Good luck!

bhoylegend- hey I plan on streaming every weekend. Didn't think about the buzzword thing now that I think about it every top streamer has em..thanks
killingbird- hey whats up I "followed" your stream awhile back..I enjoy watching
My desktop is badazzz but unfortunately I'm working with a cheap webcam with built in mic that I had laying around and honestly haven't even tryed it out yet on twitch.
Can you or anybody recommend a affordable camera and microphone that's decent?

I have the logitech c920 webcam and Blue Yeti mic. I'm pretty happy with both. Both easy and straight forward usb.
You can get much more complex on mics (xlr mic, mixer, preamp, etc) but thats not really necessary when you first start imo.
