Came into the final table relatively shorter-stacked. Had a guy 4-outer me in a pot but I was able to find the river fold to preserve my stack. In the end I wound up busting him and two others at the final table.
The two chip leaders midway through the final got involved in a pot where one tried an over the top all-in bluff and the other guy eventually didn't believe him and called it off and was right, taking a commanding lead.
The old chip leader hung on though and survived as I busted two players and eventually the new chip leader sent him packing in 3rd and we got it headsup.
My highpoing headsup was around 1.5 Million of the 5.4 million chips in play, but I wasn't able to win the final flip, still pretty happy with the result.
They do this every Wednesday here, it's called a "PLO Freeroll" but it's not exactly. They guarantee 4K in the prize pool but then you:
1. pay $30 which goes towards house and dealers (you get 15K chips)
2. Immediately you can do $20 add-ons for 10K chips (up to five of these total, so another $100)
3. If you do the full $100 you can do a $10 dealer add-on for another 10K chips
4. At the break you can also do up to another $110 for more chips
So I was into the event for $250, not exactly a "freeroll" but the level of play overall is pretty bad, as I've found in most PLO tournaments. At the final table a lady I thought had been pretty solid decided to make her stand in the SB against my button pot-sized bet holding some garbage like K844 or something like that, it was pretty astounding when she turned her hand faceup, I'm just thinking "what the hell are you doing?"
I had the JT98 one suit rundown and made my straight after a 652 flop (turned the 7) and the lady in the SB was short stacked too and decided to get involved with AQT6 double suited, which I thought was fine, but I ran better.
