If he folds to a non-Spade Queen, then yes, unforgivably Nitty. But when you can put her on AK/AsXs based on her image and how the hand played out I can see LOTS of Players not wanting to donate chips to the table Nit.
Is Maria bluffing 30% of the time here? Probably not .. Is Maria now a 'poker' player instead of a 'card' player? Probably yes ..
But where I think we can find fault with Nick is that he probably didn't consider how often this may be a true chop or her trying to take him off a Board chop. I think that once you factor a little bit of these into a thought process then you can come up with more calls and live with the results.
IMO she and Nick had very little time together at the table and she probably showed the nuts 'all the time'. Plus he probably got a scouting report on her that also indicated she always has the nuts on a Board like this. GL
That opening size looks awfully exploitative. Without it she might’ve not gotten through on the river. Even with that though, he blocks 12 combos of AK and 6 combos of KQ. We can condense it down to middling connected, MAYBE a gapped spade hand, but that only makes up low percentage of her range there. Actually now that I think about it K5ss+ can definitely take this line. I actually really like his check on the river because it sets her up to bluff. I think you can profitably call here a lot even with an aggressive line like this.
I’d be sick if I called there and she turned over 56ss or 67ss lol.
