Wright has the 2d or 3d highest possible hand but folds it to a half-pot bet from Ho. Did he really think she had a straight flush? Was his caution warranted? Thank you.

when you wish to embed a youtube video, just put the video ID within YOUTUBE tags

eg. (but remove the spaces)
[ youtube ] Im0TNaT9HJg [/ youtube ]
[ youtube ] Im0TNaT9HJg&t=1296 [/ youtube ]

Probably good to link to the start of the hand (pre-flop) as the streets could provide context at showdown. And probably good to get the action right, betting 22.5k into a 27k pot is 83% not 50% (brush up on your math).

As usual at any table with that idiot Hellmuth, he's always talking and always talking about himself. He is insufferable.

He should have called. And I love your avatar.

FPS. I guess he wanted to do an amazing hero-fold.

Maria is known for this particularly nitty fold:

He might have been thinking if that and wrongly assuming that she just always has it.

1) Maria raise PF .. strong hand
2) Nick announced he was 'scared' of her
3) Maria checked back Flop .. sign of missing
4) Maria tank called Turn .. sign of weak, but perhaps floating
5) Nick checks River instead of block betting .. looking weak/scared of River card
6) Maria puts it all together and knows only way to win is bet .. and against this opponent, bet bigger to send the message

If he folds to a non-Spade Queen, then yes, unforgivably Nitty. But when you can put her on AK/AsXs based on her image and how the hand played out I can see LOTS of Players not wanting to donate chips to the table Nit.

Is Maria bluffing 30% of the time here? Probably not .. Is Maria now a 'poker' player instead of a 'card' player? Probably yes ..

But where I think we can find fault with Nick is that he probably didn't consider how often this may be a true chop or her trying to take him off a Board chop. I think that once you factor a little bit of these into a thought process then you can come up with more calls and live with the results.

IMO she and Nick had very little time together at the table and she probably showed the nuts 'all the time'. Plus he probably got a scouting report on her that also indicated she always has the nuts on a Board like this. GL

That opening size looks awfully exploitative. Without it she might’ve not gotten through on the river. Even with that though, he blocks 12 combos of AK and 6 combos of KQ. We can condense it down to middling connected, MAYBE a gapped spade hand, but that only makes up low percentage of her range there. Actually now that I think about it K5ss+ can definitely take this line. I actually really like his check on the river because it sets her up to bluff. I think you can profitably call here a lot even with an aggressive line like this.

I’d be sick if I called there and she turned over 56ss or 67ss lol.

Yes .. I really think Nick was blinded by a single tree in the forest, being that Maria would never bluff 'that' River and she would gladly take a Showdown playing the Board while not risking putting chips in the middle should Nick have a King.

It's very possible that had they not been in studio that he would've considered calling this down more often. Don't want to look silly calling off into a flush/AK but didn't consider that folding may be an even worse look! GL
