I hope this aint true, cause that means the site can control who wins and what cards come, let me go back into my 'believe in the game' world

congrats either way taking this thing down 2x in a month, hmm that too doesnt seem real :-)

Whenever im feeling low self esteem i log onto 2+2 to gain back my self esteem. All the jealous haters on this site gives me instant gratitude that i am not them.
Congrats kid. Well earned and well deserved.

Congrats Jamie - curious to know if you'll be able to grind other sites still or only PS?

He is very proficient at this twitch streaming malarkey, also he has a good voice for radio.

Jaime has been very vague as to what the contract is, and what sort of financial recompense he will be reviving for his duties , as this is obviously a private affair. I can only guess that 100 per cent rake back would be a good place to start.

congrats on the big 109 win today Jaime. And hope you can grow along with poker stars this great game that we all love.
Thanks Maverick. It was a pretty fun day

Poker streams are growing on Twitch, he is one of the larger ones. It makes sense for them to make sure he promotes their brand as there is a potentially large influx of new players coming from Twitch.

He seems to be kinda eccentric though, hiring his own brother as his personal assistant because "streaming takes too much time" and other questionable/odd things.

Wish the dude all the luck though.
Ya I guess that does seem sort of weird from the outside. It's really just because playing a full schedule every week and then adding in the twitch workload, and there isn't much time to take care of life things. I suck at life things anyways so why not hook my brother up with his first job!

Thanks man

As for hiring his brother, I don't think that's eccentric.seems like a sensible move when you are going to be streaming, essentially professionally, for ten or more straight hours. Plus, it keeps the money in the family, rather than relying on pizzas and other **** as sustenance.
This Thanks for always chilling Bhoylegend

What kind of life in gods name can this guy have?, is he a hermit?, does he not come outside?, if he streams 12+ hours a day and has 7/8 hours of sleep what is left?, 2 days off?, hell i hope they pay him big money, unbelievable!!!.
I'm going hard! It's not quite 12 hours a day but 8 hours of poker 5 days a week. The twitch/youtube stuff is separate. I really enjoy what I do and its such a new opportunity. I don't want to miss out by slacking. Iv'e always been a very one dimensional kind of person so finding something like this is really enjoyable for me.

I've watched his stream the most out of all of them and while he is a little too pc for me, I I still find it interesting to watch.

Also, he seems like a bankroll nit and was only planning on playing a couple wsop events this year. I wonder if the PS sponsorship is going to change that.
I actually think Im fairly aggro BR wise. I'm not backed so I have all the risk. The WSOP is awesome but I don't want to not stream for 2 months so a little of both is better I think.

I myself play live poker for more then 25 years[for fun, not too make a living] and i am a winning player, and i love poker, and i played on occasions more then 36 hours sessions and have no problems with that[other then needing sleep] but i can't play 2 hours of on-line poker with-out getting bored to death so to say, no matter the stakes[believe me i tried and payed for it lol], but hey that is my experience, and that is why i am so surprised that he can do that, and i know there are more people doing comparable things, but hey spending about 20 hours a day for 5 days a week on sitting behind a computer screen and sleeping, i can't comprehend doing that, i would feel i would be wasting my life, seeing there are so much other fun things i do in that time, since i have retired of working on the age of 45 after selling my business about 2 years ago.

And i have too admit that i have spend more time a day working then 12 hours years ago, and i did love the work i did[no bigger rush then the one of a good deal i say, but i got a offer i could not refuse, and i can always make deals right?] and since i don't know nothing about this man he could feel the same about his on-line poker, but feeling about on-line poker like i feel about it, it seems about one of the worst things to do for me spending my day, but hey like i said everybody got his things, but that is why i reacted the way i did, in the heat[and the blowing of my mind lol] of the moment after i read it, so i am sorry if anyone thought i was hating, i had no intention what so ever of doing that.
I understand what your saying man. Poker and broadcasting to me is like what that startup was to you like you suggested. Im sure you remember nothing else mattering at the time.

I watched last night and at one stage he showed the set up he has in his grinding room and it was very professional including lighting system and what not. He has obviously put alot of effort into this so i'm delighted for him and you could see how chuffed he was.

For all the jealous haters Pokerstars made the choice not him so hate on them and not him. They obviously look at people who take the initiative and put alot of effort in just like jcarverpoker.

Congrats on yesterday Jamie and you mentioned last night how you were trying to work on your health. Maybe use the last few days as motivation for that and set yourself targets in all areas for the rest of the year. Busy schedule you have but you need to be fit and healthy for all the work you put into your streams. Gl.

Can you enlighten us how the sponsorship went down a little bit? Not the terms but how it was offered to you etc.
04-09-2015 , 09:51 AM
you considering adding a bit of mass tabling of 180's to up your rake paid for SN?

Here is the setup in its current form. Always upgrading

Definitely always trying to improve. Fitness/health is something I have never been great at. I'm trying to approach it from the same rational perspective as poker so I think its going to work out Thanks for the advice

I received a phone call one morning out of the blue. No idea it was coming at all and realized this was a job interview (that I wasn't ready for.) It ended up being fine though and wasn't to nerve wracking. After that there was some back and forth and eventually signing.

I have been adding 10-20 18man/180mans at the end of my sessions to help out but I want to do as much as possible with tournaments. I really like tournaments

Hey 8 hours a day sounds a lot! better to me the 12+!! hours, that is quite a difference.

But hey i think doing what you love to do is almost all a person needs to be happy, and a good way to live your life[except if you love to use heroine or crack or serial killing or sh.t like that off-course lol if you know what i mean], no matter what others think, like the saying goes "you can't make everybody happy"

O man when i think about my starting days of my business, i can't believe i survived the first 2 years, but also the satisfaction/joy of knowing that you are going to make it in a business[import/export of anything that is worth a buck and can make a buck on] you love to do, 20 hours days where the rule other then a exception the first 2 years, and playing poker to finance some deal, rather then loaning it from friends or family, many days right from the table to work, yea that feeling of making a profit of money earned at the poker-table instead of borrowed money is something special i tell you!, because i love poker and loved the job i did.

Would not have missed it for anything, despite of having no life next to work for the first 2 years, making money one time by breaking your back by moving product, and the other time making the same amount by just making 2 phone-calls, one day talking to a German a other to a Englishman then a Greek or Frenchman, and the one day buying and selling containers with 5 complete holiday cabins in it, and the other day a container with 2 million screws in it, there was nothing else that made me happier then that at that time, and not much other things do i must say.

But one thing i advice you, always be honest, it is the best[and for me the only] way, to be successful and it always pays more in the end/long run, i am convinced of that, because cheaters and thieves i have seen coming and going in the dozens over the years, in poker and business, and always work to live, never live to work.

All the best to you, and all the luck, you might not need it, but it is so nice to have it once and a while.

Congrats Jamie! Way to work hard and have it pay off.

To anyone who says he doesn't deserve it - you just don't get it.

The days of just showing up and getting a patch because you're an excellent player are for the most part over. You have add value to the brand now. Jamie was an early adopter to a technology that is popular with a whole new demographic of potentially new players.

I have been interested in poker long enough that I remember the "golden days" when the people you looked up to was the ones making the most money, living the most awesome lifestyles, balling the hardest, etc. These days all people want to see nerds out nitting each other (not directed at Staples specifically).
all your poker heroes were frauds

Really smart signing by Stars. Since he has so much charisma people that normally watch video games on Twitch have become interested in Poker by getting hooked on his stream. I see a ton of value in this deal for both Stars and Jaimie. Glad to see it happen.

I've been using twitch to de tilt and it works really well.

Wouldn't playing an hour per day of mid stakes cash games be kinda a win-win-win for you?
Really helping out with that SNE grind. Would help you improving post flop play (not that I'm anywhere near good enough to comment on that, but in theory it should for a MTT grinder shouldn't it?) and would also make a diversity in your streaming content, pleasing cash game loving viewers.

Congrats on the the sponsorship, really happy to see pokerstars realizing how huge twitch streaming has become and capitalizing on it.
04-09-2015 , 12:01 PM
I think he does deserve it and he's a pretty nice guy from what i see. Lets face it he's a consistent streamer who always puts up numbers Him, Jcarver and Bigdog are usually the top 3 twitch poker streams with Jcarver getting the most and either Staples or Bigdog 2nd or 3rd.

As to what benefit it will have in the poker community i think it will have a pretty significant benefit. People are always asking questions about what sites to play on and he provides it along with alot of answers to strategy. I think it will bring in poker players how many i don't know but since its on twitch where gamers are more likely to transition over to poker it could add more players to the poker economy.

everyone is a pokerstars player nowadays, it should be a group with 10 top players or so, instead its like 100 players, even girlfriends of players etc like acoimbra and girlfriiend...
04-09-2015 , 01:57 PM
This is brilliant. I think.

He interacts with his viewers, people can watch him play, and try and emulate him. My only beef with any of these streams is the amount of strat they sometimes give away, but c'est la vie.

Bottom line: getting gamers into poker is a good thing.

Sidenote: Cool Half Dome background.
