I’m annoyed they’ve advertised Garrett playing two days in a row, only to change the lineup. Anyone know what’s going on? Is Garrett ok?

Guess I’ll watch the Bike stream today because of Berkey, despite the inferior production quality.

Does anyone know, or wanna speculate, how they monetize the channel/operation?

I know you get x-amount per view on Youtube, but if most of their shows are getting 50,000 views, going off google that's about $300/show.
So let's say $1,500/week

There's maybe one pop-up ad on a 5 hour YT replay, and maybe one like Action Clock commercial on a show.

I know LATB still charges a subscription, which I used to do. So at $20/mo that adds up even on a low number of subs.

I would think Hustler is paying them since this is marketing for them

There was also a spot where he had a very good hand, and apparently kicked SoFlo under the table to get him to stop from betting. Again time stamped in comments.

Barry didn’t do himself any favors. When you are in those seats you have to protect your hand. I’ve had to tell people so many times to be careful as I saw their cards. I’ve even folded hands I’d play preflop because I saw their cards.

it wasn't just the card-peeping that was bad: it was kicking, collusion, moving sunglasses, douchebag "I love you Barry" before a shove-raise, peacocking and dancing, grabbing the the pile of muck cards, the constant stream of profanities that was bad. Antonio was also painful to watch and listen to. "so sick", tanking for ever for an obvious fold with a long annoying speech and general idiocy.

That kid Skillsrock has to be the biggest POS I've seen in awhile in poker. It was bad enough to cheat, but then to be celebrating like he had made amazing plays was fn ridiculous. I really hope that kid gets gwhat he deserves in life.

I wonder how many monthly subscribers LATB actually has. $20/month is more than Netflix, Amazon Prime, PokerGo, Disney+ and basically any other streaming service. All to watch old episodes of the show. You can realistically find most good clips on youtube if you really want to go back and watch a hand.

How do you feel about the commentators overstating the abilities of the lower-skilled players?

I’m torn - on one hand, it sucks that these people are being milked so hard. On the other, they know what they’re getting into and no one is forcing them to play.

Then there’s the fact that it would be incredibly rude to call them donkeys/fish/spots and that wouldn’t be cool either, yet saying that a certain player has improved a lot or generally bullshitting about the caliber of play is insulting the audience’s intelligence. I can’t help but smirk at the irony when “DGAF” praises a spew. “Has a lot of heart” is one of my favorites.

Commentating is a thankless job (unless it pays really well) because the skill level of the audience is all over the map, too.

Gets old after a while, but as you said it's a tough spot.
But you gotta assume 90% of the viewers are pretty hardcore poker fans and throw up in their mouths a little when the commentator says "Julie/Khris/Reza etc is a great player... we have seats open, none of you show up to battle them"

Barry is some sort of comedy show producer or booker or whatever and talking at the tables like he has millions in the bank. Playing 5/5 one day and 100/200 the next. Maybe I am underestimating the business but it doesn't seem like something that is going to make you that rich. Fascinating to me to speculate on how all the fish on these shows have money.


Josh said Lucky was supposed to be playing tonights stream when he was commentating the other night. Eastcoastballa's head is going to explode if he sees that.


Speaking of Krish and Reza, where have they been? Krish taped high stakes poker since his last appearance on HCL and hasn't been back in a while that I've seen and Reza hasn't been on since the holiday break either has he?
