I have a new idea for Doug's channel. He is always reaching from cryptocurrency to the crazy stuff at the poker tables. How about he gives us advice about the stock market? For real. He is well off, obviously knows how to invest. Came home from work today, to hear the early investors in UBER are now millionaires. I think Doug could do this, help us out what to invest in. He is young, informed and ambitious!!

BTW here is the link on the Uber new millionaires

I highly doubt he wants to attract an audience that is literally going to follow his bets, only to be berated by those same people when it doesn't work out as expected.

Seriously if you're going to invest based on youtube videos you shouldn't invest ever, just grind out that wage.

I never followed his cryptocurrency. Not interested in that. Dude, I can find resources for what to invest in. Was giving Doug an idea for his channel. Doug is so friendly, ambitious and always looking forward. Great guy!

LOL you really wanna take investment tips from a guy that didn't see the obvious bubble in crypto? Maybe he can get the guy running his portfolio on and pick his brain but asking for stock tips from Doug just seems silly. He's a poker play and youtube celeb, where is he getting stock knowledge from?

You guys are so silly. I was giving him a new idea for his channel. The cryptocurrency I never followed. That I was not interested in. He has a tremendous amount of talent and ambition. Maybe he can get his Series 7 license and do something new. I absolutely believe in him and want to see him succeed in poker or somewhere else. He has a engaging, beautiful personality!

Doug should start making GTO ASMR vids. "You can make mouth sounds, pop bubble wrap, or shuffle poker chips. There really is no bad decision here."

Doug and Joey were talking about what Doug is going to do next, after he gets back traveling. If he focuses on youtube content, Im not sure what he can focus on that will allow him to grow a following as big, or larger, as his poker following. Maybe if crypto keeps growing like in 2017 he can focus on that. Maybe he could content on sports betting. With sports gambling now legal in other states and growing, that could be a good market to get into.

Personally, I kinda wish he would focus on poker news. I always thought those videos were his best, though admittedly theres probably not enough news to make more than 1 episode a week, if that.

I don't understand why anybody would take advice from him on anything not related to poker, or how he could even a building a substantial following in anything else. Crypto craze then quickly slinking away a couple months later after it crashed is case in point

This reminds me of the Superinvestors of Graham-and-Doddsville. It compares survivorship bias in investing to orangutans flipping coins, and then asking the zookeeper of the winning orangutans what they're doing differently. Doug also bought a house in 2009 and told BBV it was a great time to buy, but do I believe for even a fraction of a second that 20-year-old Doug Polk had even a foggy idea about what was going on at the time? Absolutely not. He probably still doesn't know. His thesis on Bitcoin is devoid of any logical substance, he just believes that if enough people "need" Bitcoin, that the price will magically move up, even though the purchasing power of a Bitcoin just recalibrates to whatever the market spot price is.

Yeah, I tend to agree with this. I think Doug does a pretty good job of making things entertaining like news and stuff, but I would guess most people watching crypto videos are looking for opinions about which coins to invest in. That can quickly get into the "I never said I was an expert" area quickly.

What's interesting is his non-poker/non-crypto youtube account has videos on a variety of subjects, but the video that has by far the most views is about the 2018 election. I actually think if he was to focus on the presidential election, he would do a pretty good job. He seems to be pretty balanced (liberal on some issues and conservative on a few), could really give a pretty neutral view of the election. Also if you watch Fox News, CNN, or MSNBC most of the people talking about the election doesn't really know what they are talking about to begin with. Im still not sure if he could gain a huge following with that. Can he get non-poker players to watch that? But maybe that's something he can do if he gets back into Youtube (without focusing on poker)

Confused how I'm somehow being berated for buying a home after the 09 crash and bitcoin in 2013 when it was $200, but here we are.

I've made a good amount of money investing. Not really going to get too far into details but overall it's gone well across a few different industries. I also do not claim to be an expert, regardless of my success, and if you watched any of my crypto videos along the way you would know that.

My position on bitcoin hasnt changed over the last several years. I still think it makes sense as a store of value and taking away the power of banks/governments has inherent value. It is also highly speculative and risky, so keep that in mind.

I'm on a trip at the moment, but when I get back I'm probably going to focus more on content. It's not going to be a ton of poker, or crypto content most likely. I dont have that much interest in poker and crypto is too cyclical. I also dislike the amount of tech info in crypto, it makes it difficult to produce content because the amount of research and understanding required.

Probably going to step into some new areas and see what I can make happen. Most likely politics, making fun of candidates on both sides.Whatever I do it will have an emphasis on being funny/easy to watch over telling people what they should be doing specifically.

Doug, carlos posted some youtube video about bitconnect, that would be a great podcast if he accepted to talk with you, unlike bitconnect scammers he seem pretty open about how it was a scam and the money that he lost.
