What a load of nonsense.

You both caught that, too. I didn't bring it up in the recap I published b/c I appreciate both Matt & Doug relaying their thoughts on the high stakes TV poker games but yeah, I see what you're saying.
Matt Berkey comes off well in a lot of what I've watched from his convos on Joey's podcast (imo), but I don't believe he takes into consideration all that Doug does in making the shows entertaining, spreading the word, introducing fans to the game, working with the presenters, informing the community, etc.
Just don't commit to showing up in the first place if you're going to expect the host to bring $1 million so you and other players can be comfortably rolled (or don't underestimate social media personalities' ability in smaller warm-up games).
Berkey committed to being there, backed out on the same day and left the "killers" (aka better players?) holding the bag. Doug criticized him for it, and Matt's "solution" is for Doug to not only be responsible for his own presence/promotion/outreach/buy-in but to also act as a bank. Oh, and obviously have a lineup of 25 people ready to play $25/$50 in case Matt or others decide they're going to no-show hours before the stream is scheduled to start.
If I were to
Solve For Why Matt didn't make his scheduled appearance, the answer would be because he decided he didn't want to... and that's on him, not Doug imo. I still like Matt, and think he's great for the game and TV poker... just wish he'd take the full responsibility for his decision instead of passing off a large portion of the blame to Doug.
