The channel is still growing just at a much slower rate than earlier this year. Which isn't surprising since there are just so many people interested in poker. And by now everyone knows who Doug is. Even DNegs has only around 143k (Doug has about 149k). The sudden rise in subscribers in spring might also be related to Doug's switch from Twitch to youtube.
Lately I feel like there has been a drop both of quantity and of quality in the videos, it's just not as fun anymore as in the past. The clickbait (titles and thumbnails) is cancerous at this point, then there's the usual desperate monthly video whining about Tom Dwan, and after dozens of hand reviews, polker hands natually also isn't as interesting anymore.
The main reason though is that it's not a "fun" channel anymore but a "business" channel. Like Doug said on the pod, he's trying to get on all the TV shows just to promote his brand. He barely does comedy videos anymore or anything just for the lulz because it doesn't generate profit. So basically there's been a slow transition from when the focus was on entertaining the viewer till now with the focus on clickbait-money-business. Sure, Upswing has always been promoted on the channel but it wasn't a problem since it was still very entertaining. The drop of quantity and quality of the videos shows that Doug just isn't as interested in the channel anymore and that has become pretty noticeable lately. It's fine that you have a financial interest in your channel but if money becomes more important than the viewer that's obviously a problem. On the pod you also said something like, "yeah it's only a small channel in comparison to others" - dude, thousands of people regularly watch your videos. Statements like that come across like you don't care about your viewers.
What I find interesting is that I'm also not really watching the videos of the livegames with Doug himself. Not sure why but my best guess is that I - as many others on youtube - are mainly playing online. So when Doug was still playing on twitch or online in general probably more people were able to relate to that whole experience. My favourite moment was the WCOOP with OTB last fall and the microstakes challenge is what got me into the channel in the first place. Don't know what happened to the challenge and Doug already confirmed that he's not going to play the WCOOP...
I still do enjoy the content though and although I've been critical of Doug and various statements he has made recently I honestly hope this comment is somewhat helpful for you.
