Arlie is not a random dude, he is a stars sponsored pro. All of the other "challenges" have been whiffleball matches against other Stars pros. The marketing department has apparently even directed them to have weird fake fueds.



The whole thing is a sterile, phony marketing campaign. So roping Joey into it is basically like offering him to feature in a Pokerstars commercial.

How exactly is he not credible anymore if he takes it? From what has been said before it seems like there's zero strings attached. He can still talk about the things stars has done that are scummy or whatever else he feels he needs to do. It's a weird spot because you have to wonder why stars is trying to give him a platinum pass. But I feel like only good things can come from him doing it since there are no strings attached. He gets a monetary benefit for all of the great work he does and he could donate a % of the profits to something like Dan Smiths double up drive (end date for this might be prior to the tourney, but it could go to next years drive or be donated to whatever other worthy causes).

I would take easily this offer. This will be the biggest 25K tournament ever played. Even if this is just a devious marketing ploy, pokerstars is still the best overall site for the vast majority of players.

If it was a Ultimatebet kind of thing, where very shady stuff happened, then I can see taking serious ethics consideration to accept a sponsored appearance from that kind of company. It isn't the case here. You can promote Runitonce or Ignition in the future if you feel like it.

If you think stars are scummy you have to turn it down imo.

Arlie would run through a wall for this challenge. I think Joey will put any resentment/hard feelings he has for stars to the side to help him complete his challenge.

it starts with' just a tournament' with no strings attached but then it turns into wearing their gear, making a youtube vid about how great of an event it was, pictures with pros, then theyll eventually talk him into doing some online promotion/and or play. Mark my words it wont end with this.Once you show you can be persuaded you open the door for all this. Then one day down the road Papi will be on TeamStars. Have I been missing this same energy brought to all the other platinum pass winners and Stars pros going down there for the event or is this a completely different case because I've been one of the only people to stand up for the players on a consistent basis & actually attempt to bring light & discussion w/ the changes Stars has made??

Joey I think you should take it and I personally would not think less of you one bit... And for the record I think highly of and appreciate what you've done with the pod over the years and as a voice for the players.

Be opportunistic, gain personally at poker stars expense, stay consistent with your criticisms of poker stars.... Who knows maybe this could be a turning point in stars strategy with players. It's obvious you're not a fan of the org, they know this. They have to also know this doesn't auto change your view of them. It's not like they will gain significantly by bank rolling a public and outspoken critic of theirs....let it be a recon opportunity and see what happens.
