I started it again last night (and only watched it that morning).

At the start of yesterday, the 1st Galfond pod was the GOAT. I may have to rewatch that again today to compare

While I'm in the mood. I want to start a debate.

Gman references Chris Sparks (Gomukyaself) quite a few times in the vid, and clearly he's provided a few models to Garrett that helps him mentally/psychologically to excel in some areas of his life.

The guy had a coaching thread on 2p2 about a year ago offering 'life coaching' for $375/hour.

Is it me or is this vastly overpriced for what it is? How I see Gomukyaself is different from Jared Tendler or Eliot Roe though within the same price point.

Considering I earn $15/hour not playing poker, I fail to see what this guy brings that makes his knowledge 25x valuable than what I'm worth.

eg from vid (paraphrased) 'put your downswings/bad sessions in a container and then move on!'
'if you feel you've reached your goals for the day then you've CRUSHED it, well done!!!'

It's just snake oil like Torelli, no?

Thanks for the feedback guys, means a ton to me to hear some of you got some stuff out of the pod

Chris and I’s work together was worth a large multiple of what I paid for it, and I generally mistrust everything and everyone. But certainly that’s easy for me to say as $ is not a limiting resource and thus even small improvements in my day-to-day mindset and productivity are literally invaluable to me. He comes highly recommended for anyone with the means.

Probably the complete opposite. It would probably be worth 2-10x the value working w/ someone like Chris for me. When I think about it, probably isn't GTO that I don't.

I greatly appreciate the guests like Garrett because they speak about how they've essentially reconfigured the way their brain works in order to achieve success -- not just within poker, but life. Self-growth is something I love comparing notes on.

OK finished Galfond #1 (for 3rd time in total).

I also watched Galfond #2 today and obviously Gman for the 2nd time (in 2 days ).

And........................ even though it's v v v close now (with Garrett clearly 2nd. (I want to make a point that if Gman had been playing well I doubt this ep would have been all that!)) IMO Galfond #1 is still GOAT.

Phil is being honest about his life (outside of hiding he's been working on RIO poker site ) and Joey is inspired with his questioning, his suggestions and ideas. I recommend this ep to every fan of the pod if you've forgotten it though 3h18m is quite a length.

2 hours of gman podcast while sitting in a live game and all i can say is that he comes off as the kind of guy who pathologically strokes his own ego in subtle/indirect ways while simultaneously talking out the other side of his mouth about how humble and grounded he is. he contradicts himself in his rambling on numerous occasions too ("money means nothing to me" : "i got so upset when i lost 10 buyins in 3 sessions"), which makes it all just sound like total bull****.

full disclosure, i get legit triggered when rich people pontificate about how meaningless money is. it's 100% true that once you've attained a certain standard of living, more money isn't going to bring you happiness or fulfillment, but damn, have you ever been poor? do you know any poor people? have you ever REALLY struggled under the weight of mounting medical bills/debt or lost a lucrative job/income stream that you can't immediately replace? do you know what it's like to not know where your next meal is coming from? tell someone in that position that having more money to make ends meet won't make them happier, see what kind of response you get. seems like he thinks that working hard and "trying to be the best" is an automatic recipe to success.

spoiler alert: it's not. sometimes people try and fail, sometimes people get screwed, and sometimes people don't get the opportunities they need at the right times to make it out of the hole that they're in. sometimes people aren't equipped with the tools and support that they need in order to climb the ladder because of their upbringing or their mental and physical limitations. gman seems utterly oblivious to this basic fact of life and while i know these podcasts are supposed to showcase the guest and all that, he comes off as being very pompous and self absorbed.

ya, not a fan.

I agree with all unquoted parts and def not a fan boy, but this 'money means nothing to me' vs 'upset about losing 10 buyins' isnt necessarily connected. he might be upset with losing, but not about losing the money (buyins).
