I do too, I am the same way and have no idea how to process it all. It was much easier when I only thought about waking up to play online poker 24/7.

Thanks in advance.
I will finish uploading today hopefully, i've been off the CPU for the past few weeks engaged in one of the most intense chess matches of my life.

This is the same thing I have been thinking. Obviously it could exist for a couple years and fail but I do think that it will generate some new buzz that has been non-existent in poker for the past few years before it reaches that point. I am pretty bullish on the potential for it because I don't really remember someone on the other end of the poker side of things with this type of work ethic and passion to really growing the game in an unique way. I would imagine that Isai probably had the same type of passion and work ethic when he was building Pokerstars and creating unique initiatives to grow the game. I would also imagine the FTP guys had a similar passion for taking as much from the customers as they could at that time as well
Positive or negative, I'm excited to see what happens.

The fact that they dreamed this up with the other limousine liberals at Burning Man doesn't change my mind. As you alluded to, maybe there are other more sympathetic causes. But there other, less obvious reasons as well. From their personal standpoint, they may expose themselves to getting scammed/extorted/exploited by guys that can sense weakness better than Ivey. There are also society-wide issues.
Scenario 1: Guy is right where he belongs, in jail, kicking his habit, because he can't afford a real treatment center. Before fully kicking, he is able to con his bail money out of a couple of poker players and their charity and knocks over one more bank to get his fix. A fix which promptly kills him. Hmm, I wonder if this could ever happen in Boston . . .
Scenario 2: They end up helping to bail out skinners, women/child abusers, and rats so that they can hit the streets to start skinning, abusing and telling on their friends. These guys don't last 5 minutes on the tier before they get checked off into PC, but hey, at least they're eligible for assistance from the MA Bail Fund.
Is the next charity going to be the Syrian Refugee Visa Fund? (that's a joke Colman, not a suggestion lol) There are much more effective ways to improve the criminal justice system: spend some money on sentence reform or improving the (lack of) rehabilitation in these human warehouses. This Bail Fund is a tragedy waiting to happen and may even open these guys up to some sort of liability. Burning Man - poker - guilt - altruism - criminal justice - charity - cause - performance enhancers; some interesting stuff though.
I don't meant be offensive and I'm absolutely open to any rebuttals by people that are smarter or better informed, which is probably most people hehe. I'm pretty sure these two really want to help make the world a better place. But this seems like a very, very bad idea, even if the worst thing that happens is that their 50k gets scammed 500 at a time by 100 cons.
I don't think they are choosing which people get the donations. From how I understood it, there is a company that has probably been involved in this industry for a long time that they would be donating to. I would imagine they have guys like FoxwoodsFiend deciding which defendants to help out with bail and which to deny. That is just speculation though. I can't imagine Dan/Dan will be sitting down together to decide which people to help out with bail lol although I would enjoy seeing that process take place.

I was thinking the same thing during the last podcast. I want to be a fly on the wall during a conversation Mason has with someone who is also 10 levels above everyone else
