Yeah actually I take back what I said above as you didn't ask Mason to do a jungleman impression.

Mason IS Jungleman lol nah but for real tho, sick interview. Evidently, he left a cushy job as a statistician for Northrup/Grumman to start 2p2 Publishing.

We also learned that Sklansky has been GTO'ing since 1978. Super hyped on this podcast Mr. Ingram. Keep em' coming!

Listening to Malmuth, some good stuff so far.

For guest recommendations would be sick to see some live guys like nick schulman or matt moore (guy with the epic blog on 2p2). Also the old online legends like baluga whale or aejones would be cool.

I think I literally mentioned the same thing in the chat. But I totally meant it facetiously.

TBH, Mason literally didn't even crack a smile the entire time. Jungleman actually smiles and laughs and seems like an all around cool guy.

I take back making the comparison

As others recent mentioned Andrew Seidman would be a great guest. I've always thought his teaching materials are among the best out there and he is always v talkative in his videos. Would be interested to know what he is doing these days as he seemed to go from being completely immersed in poker to disappearing from it in recent years.

I liked the Mason podcast but was surprised by his flimsy logic when he claimed that diet and exercise have a negligible or nonexistant effect on poker success. His counter-examples (Stu Ungar, etc.) only show that the correlation between diet/exercise and poker winrate is not 1 (Could stu have been better if he was less of a degenerate?). They obviously do not show that there isn't a causal relationship. To figure that out we would want to look at properly conducted empirical research and not a few one-sided anecdotes.

There is a large literature on the effect these things have on mental acuity in certain areas so it would be pretty surprising if they didn't also affect one's ability to make complex poker decisions. Even if someone was playing blackjack and had memorized basic strategy, poor diet/exercise would probably raise the chances of a mistake. And poker, in comparison, is far more complex with fewer rote decisions.

I think Mason is way off on the diet thing. If you eat like **** you will probably feel like **** and you will get tired quicker and you will make worse decisions. Same with exercise.

Joey, just got to the end of the Tuchman episode. I thought it was pretty funny how much your mind was blown by the concept of tailoring your food choice to the weather. I'm all in the Tuch camp on this - I mean who eats salad in winter?

Have got almost through Lex ep. A couple of q's:

i) Can somebody (even Joe) elaborate on what Joe was saying about no more datamining in zoom games. Does that mean HUD's dont work?
ii) I'm not there but after discussing SNE was wondering for an average (ie. not a nit) player playing a million hands at 500NL zoom, is that likely to get you elite? Or is it nowhere near?

We need Will Jaffe on soon. We've had Lex talking about Antonio (again), we need Dank's opinion on Lex (again)
