And, for those GTO'ers who think that the game will be solved....it wont...it will evolve, trust me. Poker didn't begin with NLHE and it's definitely not going to end with it either. My advice would be to try to evolve with the game and watch/start trends if you want to stay on top! Grind some lowball, some PLO...so many options and there'll be more....promise! Poker isn't Texas Hold 'em...Texas Hold 'em is poker! And poker's been around for a long time, with all its variations.

I'd love to have me a group of young ego-driven youngsters come into my UG club thinking they know how to grind....the more, the better. Bring it and bring your BR with you.

For most of the streamers: Yes. Usually the streams are archived up to a certain amount.

Some streamers who have partnered with Twitch have their archives only available for subscribers.

I am new to twitch.
Just started watching elky about a half hour ago in this tournament.

I think this is great for poker.

I see this guy on TV and he looks like a douche!

I watch him for thirty mins on twitch and hes laughing, joking around, cracking big hands, interacting with the viewers!

It is hard for the recreational american player to relate to these superstarts from europe when we see them on TV with what we consider an unualy style (not just in the way the play cards but everthing; thier fashion, table talk, etc).

In about 30 minutes ive become a fan of this guy and this is what is going to increase the popularity of poker. Likeable pros/superstars that are being silly and letting their guard down live while they win or loose thousands of dollars.

I think the state of online/live poker in America is ****ing Gloomy as hell right now!

I have been supplementing my income 5/5 and 5/10 for about 10 years now.
Little by little i have noticed that we are approaching a time where the only players left are pros and degens. Hopefully this will bring back the recs who, IMO, make the game so much more fun for EVERYONE (not just the grinders).

Thread title should be changed to: "Twitch, USA online poker gets some life support"

These streams are so easy to Watch on phones and tablets, and the poker avatar is right up at the top of the page of streams usually. You can see the growth in viewers since the beginning. There are old, new, newbies alike are all part of the discussions. It's also its own unique genre of entertainment in the twitch world.

Most of the streamers are prima donnas, I saw one of the guys on wpn , it's a 5 dollar tourney, maybe 300 to the winner, and he is final tabled. He really tightens up, his wife gives him hugs every race he wins with his top 10% hands. Anyway just watching was entertaining for me on my lunch break.

It's obvious to me, it's a good thing for online poker players. Just as in the poker after dark tv days, the uniqueness of the game, and quirkiness of the players is on display in an easy to watch format.

This
It's not about actually learning strategy on Twitch, it's about what kind of demographic they are attracting to poker.

As a proud holder of a U.S.N. G.E.D. , I can say that it is like squealing on yourself, or setting up a camera in the magicians hands...wtf are you kids crazy? Your vanity an id demand stroking so you decide to pull the veil of the magicians trick.. The only thing i want twitching ,as a shot of endorfins flood my brain thinking about it,is my *rick.

Games are harder gradually because of stuff the OP mentions like training sites, people getting better, more software... but nothing comes at all in comparison to the player pool shrinking from countries being eliminated from it.

It seems like there are mostly Eastern European players on Poker Stars these days. They have smaller populations and less disposable income than the banned/segregated countries.

That said, there will always need to be an equilibrium to rake/win rates and if games really do get too hard, people stop playing/rake gets lowered which leads to games not being too hard anymore.

Like many have said, online poker getting banned/segregated in many countries is gonna be the nail in the coffin. Such a joke since many of these countries are so called "free" countries.

sick of people crying and playing about this that and the third making games tough, when everyone else is improving and youre stagnant of course it will seem that way to you. people are champions of making excuses as to why they don't want to put in work and acknowledge the truth about themselves. Ego is a hell of a drug.

I watch people who stream 25-50 nl zoom and I make notes on the regs and them. Seems fair lol...

Only reason why online poker was easy back in the early 2000s, is because it was something new. There weren't any regs back then. People probably didn't even know that you could actually make decent cash by multitabling. Then of course some people started doing that, and more followed. 15 years later, I think it's safe to say that the "key to success" is pretty much available to everyone. There are so many strategy videos, or even forum threads for the serious new player to browse. I don't think that twitch.tv will make poker harder and I'm saying that because it takes something more than just watching a poker stream casually, to become good at the game. That's dedication. A fish will always be a fish, unless he decides to take the game more seriously and like I said, there's plenty of educational material out there already.

From my days of playing 6 max midstakes cash games, TimStone, you really had some huge leaks in your game 2 years back. No wonder you are complaining if you havent upped your game.

newcomers are still fish and can still be easily exploited. i dont see a massive problem with twitch if it brings new players to the game. who cares if newbs have a bit of strategy. some people will never be happy.
