Yeah I don't disagree with that, just saying it's wrong to misquote someone if you're going to use it to back up your point.

Of course most of his money is from Twitch and Stars and not poker.

Re: Jaime Staples

Yeah agree that misquoting is a pretty sigh thing to do as it leads to a lot of bs rumours.

I still watch Jaime's vlogs every so often and rooting for him. However to say he is a professional poker player is like saying those 30yo women who are staked for 1/2 at Tampa bay by some horny degen are professional poker players.

His good presence and attitude on twitch have got to where he is now, not winnings off mid stakes mtts. And as someone else said, there's nothing wrong with that. In fact admitting some fault could lead to more constructive studying in the near future (look where confronting obesity has led Jaime and who knows how much he will continue to lose!)

Fine for everyone to have an opinion on a public figure but if you're typing very critical posts based on wrong interpretations then that is wrong. Esp on a public forum where rumors can harm reputations.
ok but everyone except the odd random that goes into his stream already knows he doesn't make his living from his poker we've seen his results and he's a losing poker player, i was giving him a little credit for actually being a little bit honest and admitting what he's been trying to lie and hide forever now lol

Not because he is a fitness vlogger, but because I think he could find a pretty good draw with this bet setup. This is an excellent point.

I've watched a few streams on& off over the years & Jamie's stream is an enjoyable watch. It's not easy staying amped up & entertaining for hours & hours on end. Doug Polk has mentioned how difficult this is, & nowadays when you watch JCarver, it seems like it's torturing him to stream, which is a shame.

It's pretty obvious that Staples isnt a particularly great player, although I've seen him run badly a fair bit too. When I watched, I felt like I was watching a less talented JCarver. He also seems to get lost in hands, especially when having to play relatively deep stacked against good players.

Re: Jaime Staples

I don't agree that he's a losing player. He's obviously winning at the smaller stakes. He just lost his way a bit when he had the Twitch income to move up stakes and play the $1ks where he was clearly out of his depth. Think in part, it was also to make Supernova for his sponsorship. It's really backfired for him though as I feel it's kinda damaged his brand a bit and made it easy for people to belittle his game. He's definitely profitable at smaller stakes as you can see from the early part of his graph. Glad to see he's moved back down and hopefully he'll turn that graph around.

Not a lot considering he started over 300 and he has 75K for his brother and another 75K for himself riding on a bet. People only give Jaime grief when they see poor effort (all things considered) and rationalizing like you're doing.

This bet is about will not skill.

He's visibly lost a lot of weight and every day he's posting about hiking or being in the gym, so that has to be a positive thing.

I couldn't agree more. Why, one night last week my doorbell rang and there was a large pizza just sitting there looking all innocent (I peeked through the blinds). I immediately shut off all of the lights, locked myself in the bathroom and waited for 3 hours before that pizza finally decided to torment someone else. Victory!!

Was just gonna congratulate big bro Stapes for taking down the Hot 33 like an absolute boss. Ironic this comes at a time when we have all this talk going on that Pokerstaples is a losing poker player.

Really fun to see Jaime playing his A+ game while making it an all around fun experience to watch him on Twitch. Being Sunday, I didn't have much to do so I had the pleasure to sit on the couch and play a bit of poker on Stars while simultaneously rooting Jaime on.

On the opposite side of the spectrum we have Parker Talbot who's going through his struggle at the moment. Caught a couple minutes of his stream today and he is down & out. Tonkaaap was not his lively self and I could tell something is affecting him badly. Honestly, when is the last time Tonkaaap won a tournament, the times I watch him he either running super bad or just bricking tournies.

The Twitch Poker streaming landscape is changing and I'm extremely bullish on Lex Veldhuis & Pokerstaples. I love what they bring to Twitch and they've proven you don't have to be an insane crusher to make poker great again.

Big ups to my man Jaime for the big score today!!!

These results must be put into the wider context of his overall graph. 2 games is an utterly meaningless sample. Even fish will win occasionally.

I cannot believe we are on a poker forum and there are people without even a basic understanding of variance.

Re: Jaime Staples

It is a strange time on the twitch poker landscape. Jcarver and Tonkaaaap seem to have lost their love for streaming, with Jason putting out shorter and shorter streams, and Parker sometimes not turning up at all. Fair play to Jaime and Lex for remaining consistent and enthusiastic.
Lex is my favourite poker streamer by a mile, and I'm glad to see his channel growing. Jaime seems like a good guy and while I turn him on once in a while, his super nice attitude is just not my cup of tea.

Re: Jaime Staples

I've noticed Jaime marking hands when he wasn't sure on the correct play (including hands he wasn't involved in, just general pf plays by his opponents). This is something I've never seen him do in the past so at least shows some growth to trying to improve. He mentioned he is going to release videos to show what he's studying. I don't tune in too often, but even I noticed a change in his at least drive to improve.

Guy also looks like he dropped some pounds. Props to him if he keeps it going. Even if he fails the bet and loses 60-70 lbs this year that is still massive for a guy coming from an extreme of smoking, eating unhealthy and not working out. I have to give some respect to him for making some positive changes in both those regards.

Think a lot of his haters are a little jealous. Guy is living the dream. He's still relatively young, sponsored and seems to be making plenty of money from non-poker income. In today's day that might even be more sustainable than trying to become an online crusher.

I can't believe how much personal time you invest researching Jaime. It's creepy man, seriously.

Think about what you have admitted to doing in this thread, plus how many times you have posted in this thread. You literally admitted to PMing his viewers and asking their age. Like who the **** takes time to do that just so they can come back in the thread and do some more bashing? Creepy man.

I'd be curious to know the % of posts you have in this thread. Take a break from the stalking.

Barely invested any time actually. Not watched his streams this year. Looking up his profit graph takes a few seconds.

I asked a few viewers how old they were, during a normal and pleasant conversation via whisper. This was some time last year, I don't remember exactly when. I obviously didn't message them out of the blue and demand their age - that would be creepy.

Bro, you responded to that post within an hour, so you must be all over this thread at least. Kind of odd if you have no time for the stream etc.

So I suppose every quick response to a forum post must mean that person is a stalker? Come on, you're just clutching at straws now.

No idea but with the lack of streams in the past few months and not playing WSOP I would have to assume so.

Just binked 3rd MTT ($33 hyper for $2.1k this time) in consecutive streams. Very impressive.

Feels like this little heater is just what he needed in terms of his overall life mindset. No doubt the calorie deficit has been taking its toll.

Pleased for him, hope he lands something big.

Ah, the old straw man fallacy. I didn't call you a stalker; I merely intimated you're taking a keen interest in Jaime Staples and this topic, yet you are trying to convince the group that you barely invest any time in him, which seems at odds.

Ok, well whatever you want to think. I post here now and then, mainly to inform people that he is a losing player.
