Banning people and censoring comments just because you disagree with them is not the way to go. It will alienate even more viewers.

There is really no problem with criticism, as long as it is both justified and true. The two main criticisms Jaime is receiving are that he's on a very large downswing and he needs to lose weight. Both of these things are true and justified. And many people are saying them.

Jaime needs to take this criticism on board and do something about it. I don't understand how someone can go on an almost $70,000 downswing and not work on their game off the tables to see what's going wrong.

Its just one of the ways he could solve chat problem, I think its much better than running submode all the time. Some ppl take criticism very good, or they just dont care or they troll chat back, I feel like Jaime isnt that kind of guy so maybe its not that bad idea... and if he loses haters from chat its hard to call it alienating viewers, its only small fraction of viewers and not like any1 will cry after them.

For me, the ppl who come to some1s twitch channel only to write him that his fat or he needs to lose weight have some personal problems themselves its probably not very happy times to stream on ds and read all this bull**** stuff, after all its his channel, if he has problem with that why not ban all the haters. Actually watched kevmarts stream today while grinding myself because eu streams were dead and someone asked where is jaime and he quickly answered hes around and rapidly changed the subject. Thought a second troubles in the paradise and guess so. Feels kind of bad if thats really the case. Everything starting to crumble around him.

Wow, haven't been watching for a while now, so I hadn't noticed any tension. But I'd noticed that Jaime and Kevin had started to stream at the same time, which they never used to do before. And didn't someone say that Kevin actually hosted Doug Polk instead of Jaime at one time?

That's pretty cold. Pure speculation, but not being able to come to an agreement about who can stream when, while the market's saturated market, and while they're both trying to hold onto their cash cow Stars sponsorships seems like a very possible reason there might be tension. Jaime seems like he'd want a more cooperative schedule, while Kevin probably thinks it's every man for himself.

If Kevin's going to be like that, Jaime has no choice but to do the same, which would be stressful if that wasn't the way he wanted to do things. But if that's the way things are going to be, he should make sure that if there's only room for one so-so sponsored twitch pro from Canada, that it's him. Squeeze him out Staples!

Anyone who is partnered is making a lot more than $200 per month if they're streaming regularly. buehlero has over 100 subs so that's over $250 right there just in subs.

There are several monetization avenues available to streamers aside from subs & dono's. Ad revenue, sponsorship/paid appearances & merchandising are the common ones. But to make it work you have to have a lot more dedication than a stream or two per week. You don't necessarily have to be great at the game you're playing, but it helps a lot if you are (especially for poker streamers). What you DO have to be, is entertaining & engaging. Building a community and brand takes a lot of time and effort, and if you don't keep at it, someone else will come along and snatch your viewers which has happened to Staples. It might happen fast, or it might be a slow bleed, but you can't sit back and relax. Staples should be streaming 5-6 days/week if he wants to keep up.

The only justification would be building your brand with professional content. But even then that level of expense seems premature for where his channel is.
Most Youtubers who are putting up daily videos with 10k-15k views are editing themselves because that's not enough to live on, let alone hire someone to do it. That's hobby-level. For perspective, I know of a large gaming channel (over 5M subs, >500k views/day) and he just this year hired someone full time to edit his videos. (thank god b/c it was my daughter, and I was getting tired of subsidizing her twitch/youtube career.)

Bottom line, online entertaining is an extremely competitive arena. It's easy to be positive when you're succeeding and at the top. And it's also easy to get down and depressed when your popularity and viewers are dropping. You gotta fight hard if you want it because there's a thousand others nipping at your heels to take it away from you.

I feel bad for him that he's fallen out with Kevin. The stuff regarding his downswing and weight is laziness/bad work ethic, so the criticism is justified. But this is a different issue entirely. I hope they work things out. I agree that everything is starting to crumble around him.

I don't understand how anyone can say it's just a downswing. It's clear to every rational person that jaime is not a winning player anymore (regardless of how much he won in the past) and needs to seriously work on his game. Jaime is surrounding himself with people (the mods + fanboys) who tell him what he wants to hear, not the actual truth. Sometimes you have to be cruel to be kind.
