Would Poker Benefit from an MMR Ranked Play System?

I know this isn't a pure Hearthstone thread, but it got me thinking as to whether poker can be reinvigorated with a system similar to Hearthstone's.
Would you be interested in paying an upfront fee for every season, where the prizepool is distributed based on where you ended up in ranked play that season. There can be PLO ranked play and NL hold'em ranked play.
I think that would be really fun imo...mobile friendly where you can queue up into random heads up opponents using a SNG type format.

Not at all.
Poker is a food chain, most of the fishes don't play regularly(that's why most of them are fishes), a season prize discourages who don't want to play the whole season.

it's actually a brilliant idea (read: you'll be rich quickly if you patent it) for a new breed of poker site imo. Ironically though to your question, I don't think hearthstone as a game benefits from the mmr ranked system at all thus neither would 'poker' as a game.
