thread for discussion about major tournaments, stuff about the pro scene, popular players streaming, community drama, etc

Day two of ESL finals currently going on. magicamy was unable to attend.

http://www.twitch.tv/esl_hearthstone

group A
savjz vs max
winner vs silentstorm
winner vs zalae

group B
chakki vs weifu
winner vs pinpingho
winner vs darkwonyx

I think one of the cool things about the hearthstone pro scene is that Ive actually matched up with most of these players on ladder before

Topdecking a Kazan into a flame trap helps!

kezan mystic just won a game for weifu. turns out stealing a face hunters explosive trap and leaving two arcane golems stranded is great

It's also going to win him this elimination game vs freeze mage.

dkgo,

Why wouldn't chakki kill the piloted shredder with the antique healbot there?

That freeze mage v druid match was amazing.

Can't believe chakki pulled it off by 1 hp (top deck ice lance after the fact was ironic).

The end of that Chakki/Pinpingho druid vs mage game was pretty crazy

That demon deck absolutely wrecked this whole tourney.

bump for REYNAD talk

hes obviously just trying to save face for getting played while saying stuff to get people talking about him, he is not stupid enough to believe magicamy was legit. most probably scenario to me by far is that her ESL performance was actually Tarei (maybe specialist, or both) playing. making excuse after excuse after excuse to not show up to anything is red flag number ****ing one in how to detect a fraud. who knows what the end game was, but having a pro hearthstone player who cant show up to hearthstone tournaments doesnt do much for a team.

Cool. While pro HS players are better than typical HS players, the gulf isn't nearly as wide as the difference between pro SC2 players and typical players.

That video where Amaz loses to a basic, rank 25 deck:

You wouldn't see even a Masters player beat Jaedong, much less a gold or silver.

Amaz didn't play that game optimally

btu yes, there is more variance in hs than sc, that is known

I really don't understand the point of his video was, imo it just makes him look bad. Magicamy left the scene because of the negativity community (because she's a woman and good at the game?!?!?!?! Really Reynad?) and not because of the other reasons? Prior to the scandal allegations, she was universally loved by the community, if anything, the whole community really wanted her to be real and legit and were singing her praises.

i mean how hard is it to prove that u are a woman? just do some live commentaries to show ur thought process and then it would be pretty clear whether u can play or not?

http://www.hearthstonecalendar.com/ lists a bunch of tourneys.

But, as said above, ESL LAN is probably the next "major" one.

By major I mean a tourney that is played with a big live audience, and having between match awesome yet awkward interviews with players.
