Turn 1: Soulfire own face

Strong play?

Yep, slapped a couple Flame Imps into hand lock and got my one win easy.

I'm not sure exactly what kind build is best for this. Obviously you want a warlock deck that beats other warlock decks. In my past experience, handlock smashes zoolock, and combolock had a smaller edge over handlock. I think you definitely want a lot of burst. Feels like most of my losses were to thinking I was safe, then losing to double PO and some extra stuff. Also, Shadowflame was pretty important in handlock mirrors, and Hellfire doesn't seem like it does much besides dealing 3 to face, so I would split them 2-1 or maybe even 2-0.

I think something like this deck: http://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/33652...-deck-underdog, except I would cut a Faceless and a Defender for a couple of Voidcallers, an Arcane Golem for a Doomguard, and a Dr. Boom for a Mal'ganis. I'm actually not sure you want a second healbot in this format either.

6-1 with freeze mage. The only loss was before I realized the free minion is not based on life and played ice barrier too early giving my opponent lots of minions. Almost all opponents just made it easy because they focused on keeping their health within rage which means I don't even need to draw Alex. I guess that the fact that the free minion is always in flamestrike range helps.

I've been putting in and pulling out one Kezan from handcombolock. I think I'm somewhere around 4-0 versus freeze when I have it in my deck, and roughly 1-5 when I don't.

Fwiw mill druid is also really good in this brawl. Probably the same scenario as freeze mage where you're always playing from behind but you also have the flexibility to lose life using hero power into enemy minion if needed. Just trade trade clear clear hard removal and then win in fatigue.

I went with handlock specifically because it builds up and deals a bunch of damage in one turn, which allows you to win without ever having the lead on life.

They really should try not to make brawls where one single deck archetype is clearly the strongest. Everyone is playing handlock and it's very difficult to beat.

The game isn't balanced around these brawls so if they make some crazy mechanic, chances are that a couple decks are going to be super strong. Not much they can really do. Just play freeze mage since it smashes handlock and is just really good in this brawl in general.

You can brawl more after you get the free pack?

I very rarely play brawl any more than 2-3 times, after I get the free pack, but I got the win 5 brawls quest so I figured I'd do it.

My suspicion was, and it turned out to be true, people are dicking around the life mechanic too much and playing too cute, etc.

A Warlock demon zoo deck you just get a big board within the first few turns and then blast the hell out of them and they are dead.

It's just like any other game mode, you can play it as much as you want. You only get the pack reward for the 1st win. You can use brawl games to clear quests too, in fact some brawls are ideal for certain quests. Like if you had Spellmaster, doing it in the Portals brawl was LDO.

The problem with the comeback mechanism it seems as though it will only spawn 2-3 mana minions. In all honesty, it normally isn't worth the trouble of staying close or falling way behind when it comes to health.

Honestly I think I hate this brawl the most--I'm shocked Blizz can't come up with better Brawls.

How about the ability to use any card with a hero? Or two heros cards at once. The fact that they are repeating and coming up with ****ty ones already is disappointing.

Completely agree. I think they need to have a basic litmus test and that is

Will currently popular ladder decks do very well in this brawl format?

And if the answer is "yes" that's a ****ty brawl.

Had an opponent dark bomb his face twice to get himself lower than me. Thing is, he only got himself 3 lower than me, which isn't enough to get a minion.

Agree 100%. I don't see the point of this Brawl at all. The minions you get are so weak, it's nearly pointless.

I personally enjoyed the spell one (random minion for x mana cost of spell) as well as the last portal one.

I did really well with Lock 'n Load Hunter last night playing this brawl for a bit. Everyone was Warlocking.

Here's my deck...

2 hunters mark
2 tracking
2 arcane shot
2 bear trap
1 explosive trap
2 freezing trap
1 snake trap
1 snipe
2 quick shot
2 kings elekk
2 eaglehorn bow
2 animal companion
2 kill command
2 unleash the hounds
1 emperor thaurissan
2 mountain giant

Try it out. It looks ridiculous, I know. It worked in the few games I played. Mulligan hard for King's Elekk and Lock n Load duh.

My favorite brawl by far is the unstable portal one. It's a lot of fun due to the RNG, you don't need to have a good card collection to enjoy it, you get to play with lots of cards that usually never see play and unlike arena, you can play it over and over for free.

I really liked this one also. Unlike, e.g., banana brawl, several classes were good with this: druid, priest, and mage, iirc.

Need a dual class brawl. Same pairs as match up on the quests.
