I think when Brawl was announced people were expecting cool things like the Challenge Stone style restrictions, something that would test people's creativity and deck building skills.

But it seems Blizzard is more content with it being sort of a silly/random/fun thing than anything remotely competitive.

I think we got what we expected. This is like the 5th week of it. We've had 4 good ones and 1 lackluster. Calm yourself.

Lol, just had a game where I had 4 Malganis. (Well, I Faceless'd one of them). Of course, he conceded when I put the 4th one out. But he had a ton of armor at the time I put the first one out.

The biggest problem with challengestone type restrictions is that newer players would have no chance at it because of the restrictions in the types of cards you can have.

And each person has a different opinion as to which is the lackluster one. Lots of people hated Nef/Rag, but it was probably my second favorite one. I loved the spell one, but see that some people found it boring.

You can't please everyone.

Agreed, which is why I proposed that if a particular brawl involves building a deck they should make all the cards available to everyone.

It would eliminate the unevenness and would be fun for brand new players to play with all the cool legendaries they've seen.

Of course if Blizzard thought this would discourage pack buying they'd never do it. It might actually encourage it though, getting a taste of the powerful cards might make you want them full time.

thought the banana one and this week were awfullllllllll

Banana one very clearly rewarded those who understood the format. There were still arguments about the optimal listing even after the Brawl was over. I don't mind degenerate strategies dominating, if there is still room to be more degenerate than the next guy, for play skill to matter, and for counterplay to exist.

This week is atrocious. I just snap conceded 3 games until I got a hand that very roughly resembled a curve. I have zero ****ing interest in playing out a Felguard, Ravenholdt Assassin, Mal'Ganis, Sacrificial Pact opening; not for funsies, not for a free pack.

people argue over optimal listing in a 4 day format with no significance? I guess this is the internet

I thought brawl would be something where we would make creative decks with various rule sets, but it seems clear they're mainly aiming it to give new players something to do outside of ladder for quests/packs. I was hoping it would be arena style where you're assigned random stipulations instead of cards

Sometimes we are assigned random stipulations...

Like per draft, so yours would differ from your opponents

I think people are too hard on Brawl. If you're not going for legend, the ladder is kind of pointless. E.g., I hit rank 15 in an instant this month. But I also have no real shot at making legend because 1) I'm not good enough; and 2) even if I were, I don't have the time to devote to HS. Brawl gives plenty of people like me (those stuck between ranks 5 and 20 on the ladder) the chance to do something new.

Because of brawl, I've only played ladder on 3 different days this month, the rest of the time has been spent in Brawl.

I'm in the "get my free pack and be done with it" camp. Last week seemed like something I could play a bunch of games with. I liked the webspinner one too...a lot. This week's setup really made go try-hard mode on the first game because I really didn't want to waste my time on such an unfun setup.

I'm using this brawl to level up my classes on the EU account. It's nice that this brawl doesn't take your card collection in to account. I don't see any reason to play it on my NA account which has basically all the cards I want, but if I can make some progress towards something while I play it then it becomes more fun.

only pro in favor of this brawl is that new players get to try cards they dont have

if blizzard is so concerned about new players and their experience, they really should open up the complete collection of cards for all players for the make your own deck brawls

they obv will never do this tho

so just give us good brawls instead of this crapola

This brawl is great. Had one game that had a hungry crab eat my murloc. Then hemet kill the hungry crab. Then dark cultist buff + divine favor on hemet into a 6/12 hemet domination. Next game I played an ETC then summoned V0L7R0N for lethal. Some fun games that aren't possible in any other format.

I don't hate this week's brawl. It's silly and everything, but it's not mega-AIDS like the banana one

This weeks brawl would be better if there were more early drops. like 50% of my games are just people smashing face and the game ending. That is the problem imo.

It's random. I've had Warlock vs Warlock games where we each just tap until turn 5.

Well, the good news is that no matter how bad a particular brawl sucks it's gone in a week anyway.

Yes, and that is its flaw. Often times you do nothing and conceed. That isn't very fun. There should have been at least x number of cards at certain mana levels so you aren't stuck with so many do nothing and conceed matchs.

and as fun as im sure it is for the people playing it, turn 8, 9 + 10 malganis/faceless/malganis is a bit tiring when you're not guarenteed removal. well that and not realizing your own deck might own you with flame leviathan lol. glad this ones not sticking around for long.
