Watch your back!

TempoStorm currently lists oil rogue as the top deck in their tier list:
https://tempostorm.com/articles/the-...dder-tier-list

The pros are that it's a relatively cheap deck. The core cards only lists two legendary cards, one of which is Loatheb, easily obtained in Naxxramas. Listed here:

The con is that it has a reputation as being a hard deck to play.

Here are some recent (both posted within the last 24 hours) videos of well-known streamers playing oil rogue.

I haven't been having much success with oil rogue yet, but it is fun to play and hopefully watching those videos and getting tips from you guys will help all of us get better at rogue.

For sure watch Ryzen, Kolento and Hyped to learn the decm. Definitely a fun puzzle deck to play and not too hard to get "decent" with it but certainly a bitch to master.

I've checked in on Ryzen's stream several times in the last few weeks, and I don't think I've ever seen him with Shiv. He seems to be constantly changing around the Barber, Farseer, Shredder, Belcher, and Healbot counts.

If you run 2 Sprint's and no Auctioneer then Shiv isn't as important.

As for Streamer's there is also SuperJJ, MrYagut and AsmodaiTV. They are all Rogue Specialists and stream mostly Rogue. JJ was #1 EU and #2NA with Malygod rogue and is always up there (#5 last season).

I've been focusing mainly on Rogue cause it is so fun to play and hence watching tons of streams. Seems the biggest flex spots are pretty much:

Which 4 drops between Teacher and Shredders (run at least 2 sometimes 3)
Healbot
Earthen Ring (0-2 depending on other choices)
Barbers
Edwin
Southsea (in Mirror entity/freezing trap meta too hard to take it out)
Loatheb

Lists with Auctioneer only run one Sprint

Oh I agree and it is the last on that list to go, but I have seen it come out of lists. JJ/Ryzen and Kolento have all played without it in the beginning of this season to curve lower for aggro I believe.

I personally never cut it cause I love the card.

trying to get to lvl 60 and have actually taken out the teachers for shredders at least for the mid ranks. the anti-synergy with oil and suicide vs hunter got annoying fast. in matchups where they are good everyone expects them may incorrectly hold swipe/consecrate/fan.

After watching JJ for a while when he was doing it I started running one of each and like it. Less consistent to get a specific one of course, but it isn't too bad since both are strong in different matchups.

As an alternative to Oil Rogue (obviously the better deck overall), Justsaiyan and some other people created an updated Backspace style rogue that Saiyan has been doing really well with off stream. I think he played it a bunch at the end of last season and ended up at #11.

I have no idea on the match ups and whether the deck crushes Oil rogue like the old
list crushed miracle but in my few games with it I have had fun and normally don't like aggro decks.

ApDrop was playing it on his stream recently if you want to see it in action. You can get some really clunky hands with the deck if you draw too many spells, but the burst can just be crazy.

Follow up on that Aggro rogue list. He swapped back the Annoy-o-trons for Loot hoarders like the old style. He was testing with Annoy-o cause he thought with Tinker's you might not need as much draw as the old list, but decided it was better with the hoarders.

Also the deck hurts my brain more than regular Rogue sometimes even though it plays itself at others.

I put together a Rogue Mill Deck tonight and it's pretty fun to play. Not super effective, but it does win games.

In playing about 6 games with the deck I've figured out that if you don't draw Coldlight Oracle in your first 20 cards, things aren't going to turn out well.

Aceium,

I've been tooling around with mill rogue lately too, care to share your list?

Anyone had success with Rogue in the Arena? I played one the other day and it was super fun but only went 3-3, was like playing a really terrible oil deck but surprisingly able to execute some of the combos.

This is what I've been tooling around with. The Ambusher and Mountain Giant have been the most suspsect cards thus far. Obviously, Coldlight is the heart of the deck.

I find that I'm either bouncing back coldlight or deathlord, depending on what type of deck I'm up against. Bouncing deathlord is good for healing, and coldlight is good vs. control.

I've played 5 games tonight and 3 have been against warrior. 2 control warrior and 1 face warrior. None have worked out. The last one I got to fatigue where he was taking 3 damage per turn but he still had about 50 effective health to my 13 so yeah that was fun.

id scrap the giant, drake, and ambusher. maybe ooze. heart of the deck is about surviving and forced drawing, yes? seems like having a flury would be useful for board sweeps vs aggro.

it's a good idea to still run loatheb, esp with mukla/cho. filling up someone's hand with spells only to loatheb them is a great way to force them to discard.

kidnapper is always an option, too

Hey Bobbo, what decklist seems to be the most consistent right now? I'm gonna try and focus on getting better with rouge these next couple of months and expand my repertoire. I know you've been playing a lot of rouge lately.

Appreciate the help Bobbo

How much worse is Kobold than Thalmos? I want to give rogue a go but don't want to fork out the 1600 dust. I'm playing at ~rank 5.
Rogue! Quote

Abysmal, it's just a little different. It's a little worse given you don't get the card draw, obviously, but the 2/2 body makes it slightly better vs pings or fan of knives etc.

I could make a detailed post about the Oil Shell, which is like 22 or so cards, and ~8 cards that are totally reasonable subs. Kobold is one of them.

Kreme, it's hard to say. I like the decklists that I use most Maybe I'll just make a big post or something, but a lot has been written elsewhere by people who are also really good at rogue

Kobold actually kinda helps in the shaman match, as it can clear totems if you coin it out.

Cool, thanks.

I watched strifecros rogue play for a bit and tried a few games with it. I think the hardest thing for me to get used to will be the mulliganing. I mostly play arena where getting early board presence is key so it feels wrong throwing back deckhand or whatever to try and draw a four drop. On ladder I've just been playing SenX hunter and mech mage which play pretty similarly to a standard school-of-trump arena deck.

Actually I think mulliganing in general might be my biggest leak.

i hope this doesnt sound like hyperbole, but i truly believe dark iron skulker will introduce a new rogue archetype.

any idea what that will look like? I've been messing around with this card a bit. In general, it's a decent effect but given how efficiently rogue can keep the board clear, it's typically just a stormpike commando which targets only 1 minion and has more toughness....not a bad thing I guess but not gamebreaking typically.

One thing that I found in testing a bunch of different ideas for essentially 'control rogue' is that perdition's blade is actually a pretty awesome card, it ends up being like 1/3 of a gorehowl or something hitting for 3 or 4 and then for 2.
