Priest!

It takes a hearthstone player of a certain intelligence to be able to play priest effectively. This thread is where those players gather and talk about all the fancy shadow madness/pyro/cleric/circle/auchenai combos that the lesser hunter/mech mage players simply can't process with their tiny brains.

I think it's a huge challenge to build a priest deck right now. There are just so many cards that I want to fit in my deck that I always end up leaving out something that I think I need.

So what tech choices are people making to counter the current mech mage meta?

mech priest seems to be REALLY REALLY good against mech mage (BMK was running it last night)

Re: Priest!

I've included Deathlords and Shadow Madness. This deck will own mech mages and paladins, but fails pretty hard against handlock.

The shrinkmeisters replace Wild pyros, and Im not sure its a good fit yet. I'm considering going back, but the SM'ers have good synergy with Shadow madness and often let me make good trades.

This deck is good at stalling to the mid/late game where it really excels against agro decks

I messed around with Mass Dispel and its a good card, just not great for 4 mana. I did just replace 1 CSP with sylvanis in the deck i posted above and it seems more solid

I love the deathlords though.. Its great when they summon a healbot, or a malganis that cant be played that turn that you promtly Volgin or SWD. Just throws your oppenents way off their game

Re: Priest!

I've been toying with a super anti aggro priest.

My problem is when I go to test it, I have played a rogue, a warlock, and a warrior.

And the deck gets obliterated.

Which brings me back to why I am anti-priest: No matter how you tune your deck, Priest just SUCKS at a lot of the matchups. And although it can be unreal great vs some portions of the ladder, on the whole it's just way too inconsistent.

For my tastes, anyway.

Re: Priest!

Looked at a lot of Kibler's lists. Modeled this slightly after his "pro-active" version.

Been testing all morning + afternoon, I was determined to find something I liked.

I think I finally did.

Re: Priest!

I'm liking the mech priest a lot but realized that a few cards seem misguided to me - specifically toshley

Yeah I think Gazlowe fits more in mech priest than Toshley.

Kibler is running a Foe Reaper deck right now, pretty interesting.

watched a bit of kibler's stream today. he had a puzzling spot, let's see if the priest experts want a crack at this one:

Re: Priest!

Attack face with Toshley.

Put down Auch first. Then pyro.

Rewind Toshley, attack with Zombie--now you have 7 mana, a 3/1 pyro and a 5/3 Sylv for him. He get's hurt 5 with Zombie. Attack with Hero power, Sylv is now 5-1. Now rewind the Auch, and you are left with Auch/Toshley and no board and he's down to 19.

I guess the alternate line is to sack toshley and the zombie (1st) and to have Mech/Auch on board. First might be FPS.

Re: Priest!

If you want a bit of extra damage w/ ditching Sylv -

Auchenai, Sac Chow, time rewind Auchenai, Sac Toshley, play Yeti

the problem with the first play is that you give opponent initiative on board with lots of cards in hand and you have no removal at all

one thought is that we can even give him the chow by trading toshley, pyro and rewind, then auchnei ping it. helps if this has played like combo druid. double trade and drop all your dudes seems best though. either way spot looks poor

Re: Priest!

actually that first play doesn't work anyway since you are ignoring the first pyro damage done to sylvanas

Re: Priest!

go face with chow, time rewind it, trade in toshley, play auchenai, yeti and chow would be my line. not a fan of the pyro play. you need board presence vs druid. think any play that involves time rewinding the soulpriest loses too much tempo

Re: Priest!

Kibler went for the fancy play - attack with toshley, rewind him, play auchenai/sac chow/ping slyvannas, then pyro and rewind auchenai.

gave him the 3/1, he had toshley/yeti/auchenai in hand and his opponent was at 14.

but it was wrong. this is def the creative/fun play, but simply chow to face, rewinding it, sacking toshley, and playing yeti/auchenai is better.

Re: Priest!

and play chow, too*

his opponent played kel thuzzad on an open board, he had no way of dealing with it, and shortly lost.

if he maintained board presence (line above), he'd still be behind, but he can actually deal with anything (momentarily) his opponent throws at him.

Re: Priest!

priest arena> priest constructed... ainec

I unpacked a Voljin a while ago and tried to make several priests work but it is definitely the hardest class constructed.

Also I'm disappointed that hearthstone finally has it's on sub-forum.
I waste enough play time playing this game now I have to waste forum time too? nice lol

Re: Priest!

disagree about it being the hardest, I think rogue takes that honor. I also think it's very strong constructed (although I waffle on this all the time)

Glad you pointed that out, I think I worded that poorly.
I meant "hardest" as in hardest for me to move up ladder with.
Not really as a reference to how technically demanding the deck is.

Re: Priest!

I like that list a lot. It is 2 off from a list Zetalot took to rank 1 NA and EU (-1 thougtsteal -1 cabal for Zombie chow n Loatheb). Really fun to play. Those changes seem good for what I am seeing right now. Would probably do the same if I ran priest now.

Only card I wasn't sure of was Sneed's. I think it had high impact in 1 game and was practically dead in many others. But **** it it is a cool card.
