owl is pretty ****ing good

Is it just variance or does face hunter suck now? Everyone knows how to play against it and/or is teched against aggro decks now.

I'm no expert but I think face hunter is inferior to midrange hunter and "hybrid" hunter

Face hunter is a strong choice in the current meta due to the large numbers of hybrid/midrange hunters and zoolocks.

Posters are raging over face hunter in the daily meta thread so you know it's effective as ever.

I'm bias but agree.

Also, just hit rank 12. My first full season of HS. Wonder how high I can climb.

I crafted a direwolf alpha and 2nd knife juggler, and added them to my deck. Took out a belcher. Not sure if I need 2 jugglers though. Also not sure I need a direwolf, but it did help me win the first game I used it in. Glavezooka or direwolf better iyo? (How about glave v 2nd juggler)

One thing that is true is you can play hunter without crafting super leet cards like Dr. Boom and such. I like that. Still need a 2nd highmane.

I bought 15 packs today (lolme) and got a 2nd unleash. Gonna experiment with 2 of them. Works really nice with knife juggler, now I'll have more opportunities.

Just made my first real deck, midrange hunter, and shot up to rank 10/11 very easily. After that I started running into a ton of what is called AggroWaker mage on tempostorm (mana wyrm, flamewaker, mirror image, sorc apprentice, lots of spells) and find myself lost a lot of the time in this matchup.

Is this just a horrible matchup or am I probably playing it wrong. Seems like they can easily keep my board cleared while building their own.

I'm the same rank, mainly see mech mages, but I've played a few tempo versions. Unfortunately I don't know my record against specific mage types. I'm 14-12 against them overall in the games I played on my cpu with the tracking actually on, heh. Mirror image is always frustrating. Glad most mages don't run it. You can counter it with unleash/juggle combo, but good luck having that available on exactly turn 5. I'll use quick shot on those flamewalkers even though I hate using them on the board. Those just wreck you.

What secrets are you running?

2 freezing and 1 explosive

Only problem with quick shot is it only does 3 damage so still need to find another point of damage for the flamewakers and don't run any quick shots right now. I've thought of changing the explosive to a snake trap if I can come up with the dust to try out.

I know I've also been running bad in starting cards and they are always going second so they get to coin out something to buff the manawyrm, but just thinking about the matchup it seems very difficult.

I got a snake trap a few days ago, still not sure what to make of it. Works well with juggler as a combo, but I always forget to use them together. Overall, I think I prefer freezing and explosive, but I'll try it out some more. I change my deck like every 2 games, lol.

The pure midrange vs the waker tempo mage is a tough matchup

Pretty much either deck that takes the early lead almost never relinquishes it

Do I need to run Hunter's Mark? I haven't used it in forever. Possibly not all this month. Feels like wasting a card... until you need it. I can't decide.

Ya they are just the right size to be extremely annoying to deal with as a hunter.

And of course my first match tonight is vs one and it also reminded me why I hate unstable portal...

So now that they put me on instatilt what deck does well vs them? Or is there any deck in general that goes well vs what midrange hunter is weak against?

Flamewaker tempo mage is very inconsistent so they are going to have some great games followed by terrible ones

Priest destroys it, if you want a hard counter

Sadly I don't have the cards to make a good priest deck. 3 out of 5 matches vs them tonight and I have not had the RNG on my side. Something must be attracting them to me lol.

Probably the next good deck I'm closest to making would be patron warrior without Grom.

As someone trying to learn Handlock--I hate Hunter's Mark. There's nothing like putting down an 8 health minion, taunting it up, laughing at your face hunter opponent . . . only to have him hunter's mark it down to 1 health and kill it with a puppy.

I'm never concerned about the damage from giants in handlock matches. It's the taunt wall that is a problem, if the warlock has time to build one. I play midrange, not face, though. I added Spellbreaker to my hand to go with the owl (only have 1 own in my collection) to get around taunts just today. I'll see how well it plays. Also crafted Dr. Boom today! LOL, only cost me like $120 to get the cards for dust. I remember when I was gonna play the game for free.

I actually played like a 25 turn game vs handlock with my hunter a few days ago. No idea how I lasted that long, but he summoned Lord Jaraxxus around turn 21 or so, and I got him down to 1 health but had to pass and he had fatal on the board. Even though I lost, that's my best game I've played imo. A face hunter never wins after the taunt wall goes up.

Anyone who plays face hunter is a coward and recondite fraud who embarrasses his or her family and friends with every breath. That is all. Sort of kidding.

I love my hunter and nobody in my family knows what this game is so I'm all set

If I'm an underdog to face hunter, I've yet to experience it. I'm ahead in the mirror over a small sample. I have a ton of burst and can win really fast, and if the game lasts a while I have big drops to compete with (definitely an underdog if it goes to like turn 12 v handlock or druid, but far from drawing dead unlike face). The first card I'm cutting is Kezan I suppose. I match up against a lot of mage/hunter at rank 10 though. It curves out really well over a reasonably large sample, rarely waste turns.

Maybe I should trade a sludge for another highmane, actually.

-1 spellbreaker +1 highmane. DE a tier 500 purple and craft it already. Highmane is the best 6 drop IN THE GAME. Usually opponents can find an answer for the first one, but not the 2nd one AND Dr Boom. One of them is going to run amok.

Spellbreaker is drastically inferior to a 2nd owl as well. You cannot underestimate the usefulness of the owl as a skill command enabler. Spellbreaker's 4 mana is clunky and 4/3 body is weak. The turn 7 owl, hero power, skill command combo is a key move in the midrange hunter repertoire.

You are definitely a 65/35 to 70/30 dog to a true face hunter but I'm glad things are working out currently. Face hunter should be your worst matchup with that deck. Edit - I guess if you find your kezan and steal a flame trap you autowin.

Oh, duh. I only had 1 owl, forgot I could craft another (just did). Took out the spellbreaker for a 2nd owl. What's DE? Oh, should I run 2 owls or add 2nd highmane instead? I really want 2 silences. Hmm. Maybe drop a mad scientist for a highmane? Or, 1 unleash? I know I should take the mystic out instead, but I can't bring myself to do it.

Yeah, wrt the Mystic I've had a number of face hunters straight up concede on turn 4 against me. Lol. Mage is my most common opponent, although not ALL of them run secrets (most).
