I haven't actually played a ton of Hunter the last few seasons, but it was the only class I could play competitively for such a long time (even MR Hunter deck is low budget) that my win total was so much higher. It'll take a long time to get another class there IMO, simply because I've just been switching decks and classes so often the last few seasons that I don't get many snowballing wins with any of them. Like I have Paladin, Mage, Druid, Warrior, and Warlock all around 170-195 wins.

Here's some free advice even though I hate all of you. Play Flare. Prolly 2 copies of it.

Trying to get golden hunter and am on the worst streak of my life...only 15 more wins and I'm 2-19 today...holy crap, i never want to play this god forsaken class again

What deck list have you been using? I'd been getting crushed by anything I played this month until using this the last couple of days. Only matchup I've hated so far is dragon priest, f that deck. Thinking of swapping one unleash for another houndmaster.

If anyone else is playing hunter I'm curious what you think of the dragon priest matchup.

Priest is tough to beat without dragons, the dragon version is just more difficult. I don't think you should worry about teching against it since you'll still be an underdog, and it'll hurt other matchups. I run about the same list as yours. Mine has 2x Houndmaster instead of Belcher. I switched to explosive trap to counter Paladin better. And, I run Ram Wrangler instead of Flare.

I have to admit, I do love playing midrange hunter from time to time. However, I did drop some ranks this month trying to grind my golden hunter with that deck. Did run into some bad variance, but regardless I'm done. phew

Nice. Yeah, I still play some MR Hunter even at gold. If I wanted to push HAM for legend, I'd probably use that deck.

I'm playing 2x Argent Horserider in midrange and it's like the MVP of the deck so far. I mean straight midrange, no leper gnomes or abusives:; just some unassuming webspinners. Here's my pitch for Horserider: it's INSANE tempo. Forget that it has charge (that doesn't mean charge face), while it has a place in fast decks, I believe it's even stronger in midrange. It's always gross to unleash just to kill a 2 durability minion. But sometimes it's turn 3 and you can't play anything else without sacrificing it to the gods. Argent Horserider to the rescue! GG Knife Juggler, GG Mad Scientists, GG everything damaged down to 2 health. Then let's say you're playing a Druid or Mage. They'll almost always hero power to finish it off in my experience, just skipping their 4 drop. And suddenly you are in the driver's seat. Now, they SHOULDN'T do that, it's better to drop a Shredder or whatever, but more often than not it is hero power and 2 drop. Good minion to kill the second half of a Beecher (or assist a Juggler for the front half).

And, of course, it gives you a minion with reach. This is less important, but I have won a few games using that extra 2 damage reach. You can also play it on an empty board t3 if you don't have animal companion in hand. It'll survive to your t4 most of the time, and if it doesn't then you probably just win because there's no efficient way to remove it with spells or hero powers early.

I strongly suggest adding this to let's just say every hunter deck.

Just realized I am not running a quick shot. I think I'll take out the explosive trap for it. I do think explosive is good in the current meta, I recommend it over snake for sure.

The lack of King's Elekk surprises me, but not nearly as much as the inclusion of Ram Wrangler. Ram Wrangler is like a Silver Hand Knight that you need a beast to activate.

I was using Elekk, but took it out. Don't want too many 2 drops, and I don't think Elekk is better than Creeper or Juggler. To add it in, I'd take out higher cost cards, and that would kinda defeat the purpose. Still experimenting with Ram Wrangler. I'm a fan so far. What are the average stats when it procs? Like, 7/6? 6/5? It doesn't sit in my hand over about 30 games very much. Opponents should treat all beasts like they have taunt, but they don't.

Average stats are about 6.5/6 or 6/6.5. .5 better than Silver Hand Knight. Obviously, those beasts can have special abilities though.

Yeah, Silver Hand Knight's don't activate Kill Command, can't be buffed by Houndmaster, etc. And the SHK never gives you surprise lethal.

... And shk is a good (arena) 5 drop. If its all-around better, which it is, def merits inclusion

SHK is never a vanilla 3/3 for 5 though.

I like RW and play 1 copy but when you cant stick a beast it feels awfull to play and I wish it was a Belcher.

I'm 7-1 with this at rank 4-5. Maybe just running hot but fun to play and feels good to be playing something not in the meta at all.

Took this thread to heart and made necessary swaps-cut ram wrangler, i got too many game losing bloodfen raptors. Put in argent horserider.

Absolutely makes the deck better.

After playing opponents who run ram wrangler and arr on a constant loop of highmane, jormanguer, and krush, if you are lucky you should stick 2 copies in your deck. If youre like me, you should absolutely not play a 5 mana 4/4.

When I saw horserider in a midrange deck I thought it looked weak with nothing to buff it, but I like the points brought up here. Thinking I'll swap around flare, belcher, unleash and horseriders depending on what I seem to be facing that day.

Could really help in the dragon priest matchup. Was kind of funny I ended Sunday on a three straight game losing streak to dragon priests. Started yesterday playing Patron. Ran into four straight pallies, then a mix of hunters and warriors. Switch to hunter. First match priest who coins Wyrmrest Agent and drops another on turn two. Conceded and closed hearthstone.

Hunter feels like it's in the best spot since tgt finally. Well, Midrange and Hybrid, think face has terrible match-ups. I made my own Hybrid build and climbed up from rank 11 to 6 in no time. Most noticeable omission is Knife Juggler but I don't know what to cut (I guess 2nd HM and maybe owl). Two freezing almost certainly better but I'm screwing around.
