Hunters, the masters of sexy efficiency. What they lack in strategery they more than make up for in efficaciousness. If fancy-pants decks like Control Warrior are Protoss, and the heathen Zoolock are Zerg, then Huntards are some sort of beastly hybrid with real ultimate power (that are mostly Zerg ldo).

Hunters are the ultimate paradox. On the one hand they don't give a crap, but on the other hand, Hunters are very careful and precise.

Nerfs? Don't talk about—nerfs?! You kidding me? Nerfs?!

Starving Buzzard is now a 2/1 (was a 2/2). Rexxar is not concerned.
Unleash the Hounds has been reworkedx1. Rexxar rises again.
Unleash the Hounds has been reworkedx1. Rexxar flexes to reassert dominance.
Eaglehorn Bow now reads “Whenever a friendly Secret is revealed, gain +1 Durability”. Rexxar is not amused. Mirror matches temporarily last past turn 6.
Starving Buzzard now costs 5 (up from 2) and now has 3 Attack and 2 Health (up from 2 Attack and 1 Health). Rexxar is moderately amused but switches to facemode and supbro's up the ranks. Druid population reaches 0 Kelvin.
Undertaker now reads: Whenever you summon a minion with Deathrattle, gain +1 Attack. Rexxar befriends and exploits new cheap mana minions. Annexes Eastern seaboard.

If there was a draft in the Sporting Events Forum for "Historical WIM moments in Heartstone History" Hunter would take up the first 3 rounds alone.

In summary, Hunters are not to be trifled with. Kind of like Whitegoose in the low content thread, you really hate to deal with them on a regular basis, but if you took them away you'd realize how empty it would be. na na na na na, na na na na na, na na na na na. na na na na

Anyhoo, coming back to Earth...

I just came back to HS after a three month sabbatical. Net-decking this gem has yielded a stellar infinite-win zero-loss run from rank 25 to 10. Surely this will end in tears going 75-75 at rank 2, but I am at peace with that.

Feel free to use this thread as a depository for your pro-hunter tips and anti-huntard rage spew.

I tried playing that face hunter deck last night to clear a quest (except I dusted my leeroy when it was $1600). Games go like this:
  1. I go pass -> Haunted Creeper, my opponent goes pass -> coin & Injured Blademaster & Circle of Healing. I just concede.
  2. I go Leper Gnome -> Glavezooka buffing nothing while my opponent goes Mortal Coil -> coin & Spider Tank -> Tinkertown -> Tinkertown & Rusty Horn it
  3. Zombie Chow -> Divine Minibot -> Muster
I wanted to throw my ipad. I finally started winning a few games after that, but I hate this deck so much. It's such a do-nothing play fair deck that's entirely dependent on your opponent stumbling. I maintain the Undertaker nerf was excessive.

Sample size! It takes a few games to get a good feel for when to go for the face when there are favorable trades available. Face is the right answer 80% of the time, every time. Losses often come down to 1-2 health pts. It's key to maximize your hero power, particularly turns 4,5,6. Mulligan EVERYTHING until you have a 1-drop. You absolutely need a 1 drop or you're going to have a bad time. Finally, Leeroy is going to be your win condition in 10-15% of games. Without him you're going to be at a distinct disadvantage.

This looks quite good. I will give it a shot if I get bored of 3 minute matches. The last season I actually tried I played supergreedy control warrior and these short matches are refreshing. Dr. Boom seems like a very overpowered card to me currently. I can see them nerfing bomb damage 1-2 pts soon.

Rank 4 w/3 stars now modifying the OP deck with
-2 gnomes
-1 leeroy
+2 worgen
+1 glaivezooka

Not completely sure about leeroy coming out for a 2nd glaive, but it's good enough for chakki @ ESL so I'm sticking with it for now.

Worgen vastly superior to gnomes because you can:
1)avoid turn 2 and turn 1 coined hero power vs druid and mage
2)stealth and abusive sargant them on the sly midgame
3)gnome's parts not terribly useful with this deck's speed

I really like the Worgen. Makes the Glaivezooka and Abusive Sergeant much better. Too bad it's not a beast. It looks and sounds like one.

Played this version of facehunter last night and went like 7-2. I know I'm experiencing both sides of the variance coin here, but it really felt like a better deck.

Didn't have a chance to play any last night. I'll put a decent push in these last three days unless the EU4 expo that came out today is fantastic.

I'm glad you're seeing success. Worgen is definitely a useful 1 drop here.

I should have specified 'clockwork' gnomes. I wish I could make a deck consisting of only leper gnomes. Legendary 7 mana 7/2 creature with "deal 7 damage on death" rattle c'mooon Blizz.

Facehunter vs mechmage.

How do you play this matchup? Are you supposed to go all face?

I want to go face, but the fear of mechwarper and tinkertown and goblin blastmage gets to me.

I'm worried that I trade too much and it's affecting my winrate.
I WILL HUNT YOU DOWN! (Huntard Omni-Thread) Quote

It's probably sub 50%. You can't afford to trade. You'll get run down by turn 7 regardless. If I can get a really good trade on the warper on turn 2, like a leper gnome or worgen that is buffed with glaivezooka I'll do that. Ignore the turn 4 shredder and turn 5 blastmage and go face. Keep an owl in your starting hand to silence the warper on turn two.

Pray for hogger and that the blastmage goes primarily face.

Why facehunter over midrange? Feel like the other list with boom and rag is a lot better.

I can mass more games with face. I can get in 15 games/hr. I'm still rank 4 with 2 days and a few hrs to go so this is the most efficient way to go.

What's your win rate though? People have legit won 70%+ from 5 to legend with the other list. I can't speak to it personally though as I'm not grinding too much this month.

I'm 35-28 post rank 5 so that's...55.5%.

Rank 20 to 5 doesn't really matter but it was easily 70%+. I know that talented people can get to legend with a >70% win rate from rank 5 to rank 1 but the vast majority of those claims on heartpwn have to be exaggerated.

I'm trying to be realistic and according to this useful article I'll need ~200 more games to reach legend if I can maintain 55%.

At 15 games/hr that's 13 hrs of gametime before Saturday midnight. Ouch. Wish I hadn't checked the math again.

March 2015 Hunter Report:

Tempostorm ranks midrange and face as tier 1 decks March 1st~March 18th. Midrange drops to a tier 2 deck ~March 18th. Face hunter drops to a tier 2 deck ~March 22nd. It was a good run. I'm sure hunter will rise quickly again as the new BRD meta will favor aggro for the first month.

Whats the popular midrange right now? Im still playing senx and it works pretty good but it would be fun to try something different. Have there been any new builds recently?
I WILL HUNT YOU DOWN! (Huntard Omni-Thread) Quote

I've stuck with senx. There is a popular version with Ragnaros but I believe senx is still more consistent. It is not a favorable meta currently.

"Previously favorable matchups for Midrange Hunter have regressed to near even. Double Chow Druid puts up a tough fight and Warrior no longer has a free win. It's possible that the deck just needs its own updating to keep up, but the prevalence of Kezan Mystic and Face Hunter really hurt Midrange as a ladder deck."
