In the tournament saturday, oppo 2xinnervated and dropped Rag in turn 3 or 4... I cried a little, and then I won 12 turns later

So apparently I am qualified for the BlizzCon qualifier after all from my 19th place finish in June (I dunno if someone ahead of me became ineligible or whatever?), but the sucky thing is that I'm still legally an Arizona resident even though I've lived in Vancouver for 3 years now, and Arizona residents aren't eligible (we are working on Canadian residency but it's a very very long process). They are looking into it for me with their legal team but if I had to guess I don't think I'll be allowed to play.

That is very BBV. I hope you get to play.

Also I miss Burstlock... was so much fun

Just a heads up, following the success of Prismata Cup 1 which was the strongest field tournament ever (with >8 players), we are having Prismata Cup 2 sep 20-21, with 64 players and casted live by frodan and reynad on that sunday.

Final qualifier is Sep 12, blizz format double elim bo5, and will award 4 spots and be open to top 100 aug ladder players na/eu, and any worlds phase 1 qualified players. I recommend you attend if you qualify since it will likely be a very small field.

Holy ****, the game is easy mode. Draw cards, hit face, remove big minions with hunters mark, flare mage secrets, get money, **** bitches, win.
Saw this post. Eventually got untilted enough to reinstall and try it. I was actually able for once to use the Kolento Naxx deck card for card (with one exception, only had 1 flare so subbed in an Ironfur Grizzly.) Once I started thinking about what I was doing, dropping webspinner T1 instead of the direwolf, etc, it was a lot easier. Got up to 15-2 pretty quickly. Been floating around rank 15-16 without too much grinding, so hopefully that can go a bit higher.

BUT THEN I attempted an Arena and beat my PB of 4-3 record

WOW. For a moment I thought I was going to get the 12 win Arena. Ended up 8-3. Still I'll more than take it. Won my gold back and more, plus a deck.

Maybe I'm not done with this game yet. It's a game, a lot like poker which doesn't reward passion, intensity, rage quits, etc. Just a different style than I'm used to. It is a more "casual" game in essence and maybe it will benefit me in the long run to learn how to play this kind of game at a good level. Controlling tilt and thinking about your actions are always good traits.

you should reach rank 10 easily by fixing a few bad habits. getting legend is far from difficult just a bit time consuming.

Another hero down for 12 Arena wins in Druid. Only two remaining now are Rogue and Priest. Last 6 with Rogue have been 10-7-6-9-11-7, so done well, but not gotten to 12. I dislike Priest a lot in Arena, played it only four times, 5 wins the best (or least bad I guess).

Don't think this was the strongest Druid deck I've had, it has some clear weaknesses. But it was fun to play.

Picked Argent Squire over a better card since I already had Blood Knight and Scarlet Crusader. Fun equity >> win equity. The dream was to play turn 1 Argent Squire, turn 2 coin out Scarlet Crusader, turn 3 9/9 Blood Knight. Never happened, but got it on turn 9 once. Was enough to win at that point too.

Wait...AZ residents are allowed? Why? Sure glad I never made a push for it.

And no 12 win rogue arenas? Do you just not take it? Rogue is definitely my highest for 12.

I'm still relatively new to the game. I've played a total of 93 Arenas, 11 of those with Rogue. Not getting to 12 wins in 11 attempts isn't that strange imo. Especially since it took me some time to become decent at the game.

One does not simply contain the goose. Pretty good deck. Sea giant has great synergy with unleash the hounds too so that's great. That's actually more wins than I've ever gotten I'm pretty sure lol. I think 7-8 is my highest.

You have like 9 or 10 12 wins in 93? On EU?

Yea, 10 in 93 overall (10.8 %); 1 in first 64 (1.5 %), 9 in last 29 (31 %). Quite a big difference between 1-64 and 65-93.

First 49 were on EU. At that point I figured I should start clearing the dailies on other two as well; out of last 44: 18 on EU, 13 on US and Asia. No significant difference between the servers based on the very small sample size.

Hey guys I know this is mildly off topic but Amaz's donation thing at the bottom has had some massive spoilers for Game of Thrones today. So if you're not a book reader just probably avoid his stream. Again I know this OT but I figured I'd warn you guys.

Spoiling stuff is one of the favourite past times of twitch-chatters, so if you don't want to get spoiled, you should never read the chat.

Just started playing this game.

I assume you basically need to get all the basic cards before doing anything else?

Also would happily set up a stream if people would tell me how not to suck so bad.

You don't have to, but obviously it helps. Just do solo/unranked until you get some cards/gold. Use gold on decks/arena to build up currency for a deck to start playing ranked with.

Since you're new you're probably better off spending gold on decks instead of arena though

It isn't a must, but yes, you should probably be doing that.

Here are the easy quests listed:

I would suggest completing at least the first six (well, I guess disenchanting isn't really necessary) to get some practice before trying an Arena. You get one free Arena attempt. Getting all the basic cards means getting all heroes to level 10. It doesn't take that long really, they level up pretty quickly in the beginning. You can try out different cards, deck builds etc. while doing that and see how cards/decks work.

I disagree with this. One pack costs 100 gold, Arena is 150, and you always get at least one pack back from it. Getting to 3 wins already means you are getting prizes that are worth about the 50 extra gold it costs compared to a pack. You also get to practice drafting and playing with different cards there. And it is a lot of fun too!

This was my first thought. How is Arena ranked? As in I assume you play someone of equal skill tho it may not be seen in game? Or is it random?

And just by watching streams I assume the max # of times you can win in Arena is 12?

Yeah I've done everything there except the disenchanting thing and all the basic cards.

And again just from conjecture I guess you enter the Arena play until you lose 3 times (1 time?) and then get rewards based on how far you got?
Hearthstone?! (Blizzard online card game) Quote
09-09-2014 , 01:58 PM
Yeah you play until you lose 3 or win 12. The more you win the better your rewards.

And there's no ranking in Arena, you just play someone who has the same amount of wins (not sure if exactly the same or like +/- 1 actually) in the current run.
