Enjoying the new xpac. I can tell that Blizz is really trying to push the game away from random crap, which is good. Still a ways to go tho. Anyway, here's somethings I do & don't like:

DISLIKE:

1. Penflinger. Card was a problem before the rotation, and continues to be one after.
2. Deck of Lunacy. I actually really like the spell mage deck for the most part. It's got that old school ramp druid feel to it. Sacrifice early tempo for bigger turns later. Cool. But lunacy is just a giant rng fest and should be on the chopping block for the next set of nerfs. Really should just delete the card, it falls into that category of cards that are either playable and broken or unplayable.
3. Piercing Shot. The card is generally fine, except it can target friendly minions, which I really disagree with. Text should read enemy minions IMO.
4. Celestial Alignment. I think the card & decks centered around it are bad, but even still, it's a really awful design that is anti-fun.

LIKE:

1. The new Jaraxxus. Jaraxxus is cool. He's better than before. He is playable now. This is cool.
2. Octobot & Field Agent. Definitely scratching that miracle itch. Cool cards.
3. Kazakus. I like the deck restriction & the card feels good without being omega busted.
4. Refeshing spring water. Mage needed more draw and got it in spades with this one.

Like wtf, I hate the Deck of Lunacy decks. Mfers seem like they have the equivalent of Zephyrs.

I got lucky and get the Warlock card that gives you prime. I play the beast hunter prime, he some how top decks flamestrike. I then have the druid prime, he then top decks the card that kills all units 5 or higher attack. **** is just hilarious.

I was watching a guy on Twitch play a spell priest where the deck was all spells and spell generator cards with the only minions being the 2/3 that generates spells, the 2/5 that discounts cards and the new Priest legendary that does an AOE when you heal.

He was rank 1 legend.

But yeah the whole "created by" meta has been very silly. I just hope it isn't replaced by an OTK or miracle meta. I have a 0% win rate against the Demon Hunter lifesteal OTK deck and maybe a 20% win rate against the sharpening sword/pen flinger rogue deck. AND I'M FACING THESE DECKS IN THE NOOB RANKS. I hope it was just because my MMR got temporarily super high.

Demon hunter otK? I haven’t played against that at weeks. It’s amazing how different our meta view is. All I see is probably 50% control lock, 10% secret pally, 5% rogue battle cry draw, and then a few one offs like druid, heal priest, aggro priest, aggro shaman. It’s definitely a weird meta.

In my mmr it’s nearly 100% control lock/priest/lunacy mage with the occasional paladin like me. I think it’s a reaction to how broken paladin is (it seriously is, the archetype actually got stronger in this rotation while all others got weaker)

Cards I hate that are core now - that taelon fordring guy. It’s gonna be auto include in every single deck for the rest of time and will fundamentally change the game.

I like tutor cards like polkelt - love that design. However this effect shouldn’t be core, and i also think the watchtower cards will be auto include because they’re just too stupid good. Auto include in every deck kinds of cards lowers deck diversity and generally sucks, but at least the watchtowers will rotate out in a few years.

Not really pleased with this expansion. Anything paladin centric is really sucky, almost always.

Totally forgot about lunacy...ugh.

Control lock has almost new cards and is exhausting to play against. I love when I high roll them.

I'm at the bottom of platinum now. I reached 2 diamond last season. I guess I'll need to load up a lunacy deck. I bet it gets nerfed soon. It's basically draw it early and win. It's amazing, watching dog how he draws playable card after playable card after starting with lunacy almost every game. Card is stupid.

Yea my favorite was when a mage top decked a 5 mana twisting nether into my board of 12/12 clowns and played jandice in the same turn. Lol gg.

I tried it out, I hate it. Got so many god awful draws 4-5 straight games, not sure what I’m doing wrong. Of course, I got three warlocks and some how the bottom of my deck was all draw cards.

I feel like secrets should be removed from the game. Most of the time, they never get played naturally and instead have to be cheated out, like with that Paladin sword or the mage card that discovers and plays 2 secrets. And when they do get played naturally, it's usually easy to figure out what they are since the meta limits what secrets people use.

They have failed their purpose of being "secret" and instead are a sub par gameplay mechanic.

Secret centric decks are annoying but the mechanic is cool.

I finally cleared this one a moment ago. It took me way too much time.



I built a deck without spells and with Mankrik, Augmented Elekk, Brann Bronzebeard and Malygos the Spellweaver. Emperor Thaurissan and of course a decent amount of (targeted) draw also helps. And sometimes you have to go easy on your opponent, or you'll win before you can summon Mankrik, CbH. It's a terrible deck but I played purely for the achievement.

Deck of Lunacy isnt even needed in these mage decks, just an alternative game win condition that sometimes super highrolls, but also sometimes is a complete 0

It remains to be seen whether or not no minion mage will be viable post lunacy nerf. It feels like there is a viable deck there, with a ramp & draw & burn plan.

But don't understate how broken lunacy is. In the refined list that runs double flamestrike & double mask, lunacy is sporting a 73.6% winrate when kept in the mulligan. That's beyond broken. There hasn't been a card in the history of hearthstone that even approaches that winrate. It's keleseth on steroids.

Quite broken, but also unfortunately once you play incanter's flow one time lunacy becomes a dead card.

Definitely way too swingy 100% agree should be changed, but so should pen flinger

I thought this was going to be a bad deck. The curve is so low. Kazakus was amazing but power of creation was the MVP of the deck. I also high rolled a few times with trick totem. The 3/4 with frenzy: "gain divine shield" can get a lot of value too.

Part of it is that I'm still in the noob pool for arena opponents. They say for new accounts your first few arena runs are only against new accounts. But once I started getting above 7 wins, I was definitely facing regular opponents. One person had the legend card back.

You really do get a lot of free stuff as a new account now. I made it out of the noob ranks and I got 44 expansion packs, quests worth 300 gold and the free deck.

Plus you get the standard free stuff that everyone else has been getting: the Zuljin legendary, the silas legendary, 2 transfer students and the golden classic pack.

The biggest difference is before all those free packs would be classic packs, which by this point were filler garbage. Now you get expansion packs + the no duplicate rule means they're being very generous with free stuff.
