Went 14-3 with that list last night and it took me back to top 200 after i tanked rank experimenting with new decks. Had a pretty hilarious victory against nohandsgamer where he was emoting gg and **** after he mc’d rattlegore and had 30 damage represented on board. I was able to stall a turn, barely surviving with 2 health. I used a cutting class to draw a double broomstick 8 mana 30 dmg lethal with ETC. it was a really tricky lethal that had me so shaky afterwards. And I still missed 2 damage!

He went on mega tilt, was pretty hilarious watching his side of it. He couldnt believe he had lost. No one sees the ETC coming.

There’s like hundreds of combos with this deck and choosing the right win cond is really challenging and fun. I think this is not a top list but the element of surprise in legend ladder is really valuable and forces misplays.

Really enjoying standard ladder right now. Lots of control decks, combo decks, and aggro. My favorite archetypes. I am so glad combo is back and I hope they don’t nerf anything.

Lol they tried to nerf aggro dh but it wont work. The nerf to voracious reader just frees the list up for other broken stuff I wanted to try. Instead of the voracious readers, for now you can run sightless watchers and that should do the trick for now. The nerf to polkelt is hilarious because you always wanna play him on turn 5 anyway and rarely on 4. It’s so obvious to me they dont play their own game at a level high enough to understand these decisions.

New BGs update is fun. The spell turns add to the game and I haven't noticed it speeding up much which people were complaining would happen when the patch was announced. The 7/7 taunt shielder is a great addition, really ****s with the late game small poison techs which were pretty anti fun. Don't have to watch your 40/100 Garr trade with a 2/3 poison murloc every round anymore. She might be a bit overstatted at 7/7 though and should definitely not be a legendary that can pop from sneed's. Bit of a shame the new heroes suck as much as they do but patches and zephyrs getting more playable is good.

Had these fun back to back omu games, both pretty late khadgar transitions. The elementals one I played against an equally ridiculous reno pirate comp for 3 rounds and would have lost without the 7/7.

I tried to complete a top 4 in bg’s weekly quest and gave up after 3 games. I suck miserably at it. Any tips? I particularly don’t understand how people’s **** gets so big by like the 6th or 7th round. My biggest guy will be like an 8/8 and I run into some big ass 20/14 or something.

I played one game of BG's yesterday, and took Curator.

I started the game with a couple of Pirates that lower the cost of upgrading taverns. I found a +3 Attack Pirate to go with the Amalgam and two other dudes, and pretty much never looked back. I flew through a couple of tavern tiers where I wasn't finding much, but my warband still held its own.

Eventually I was on Tavern Tier 6 when there might have been 1 other person at Tier 5. At Tier 6 I found 2 of the EZ-mode Pirate Admiral and cruised to an easy 1st place. I managed to do 42 damage to someone in 1 turn after my golden pirate ship spawned several more Admirals, got that achievement checked off.

I was never in any danger of losing a match for the last 8 or 9 rounds of the game.

Use https://hsreplay.net/battlegrounds/heroes/ if you don't know what hero to pick. Level on 4 gold, 7 gold and 9 gold, then whenever feels good from there (unless you're playing maieve or rafaam in which case stay on 1 till 6 gold then level hp til opponents look scary). Always pick a token round 1 if it's offered. Think about whether you can afford to play for economy vs whether you need the tempo picks. Should be enough to get top 4 at starter ranks. Watch a few dogdog games if you want to get better from there. It's a really fun game mode.

Hit legend, went 14-6 final climb with this deck.

Focuses more draw which i think other cthun decks miss out on (cram sessions). Cram sessions often just a {0} cycle, or sometimes more with spell power from font of power/book. Think i only used cthun once but the cthun parts were often useful

Thanks for bg’s tips. Grinded up to about 3k mmr, most games i place 2nd or third and get a few hundred points. Is this sustainable for climbing? I get top 4 most of the time now but I never win. I always run into these massive minions at the end I have no hope of beating. Like i legit dont understand how people get like 75/75 minions with poison and divine shield. My biggest minion ever was a 26/140. Typically 50/50 is my max and that’s if I bink an awesome synergy in the beginning and build a minion the entire game.

I am doing a little better. Played like 40 bg’s and have 32 top 4’s and 3 firsts.

I am having a lot of success when I do a few things. Don’t go all in on a synergy early. That leads to many menagerie style warbands, which tend to do the best for me. Here was an easy menagerie win that just steamrolled everyone:



That 4/6 golden that buffs minions next to it when attacked is my favorite minion to play. If you can place that 7/7 that absorbs taunt attacks next to it, and beef it up a lot, it’s a real late game powerhouse and is really good early too. I try to always get this guy.

Looks alright you'll probably not have a few of those pieces in end game boards after a while but you'll figure it out. 4/6 might be alright with the 7/7 but it falls off pretty hard late. Great early game though

Yeah all builds rely on one or two pieces and if you try and force them without them you're going to have a bad time so some kind of menagerie is the default til you get direction. (kalec or at least double razorgore nadina for dragons, bran for murlocs, double rag or early nomi for elementals (any time after turn 7 you're probably going to want two), wrathweaver plus watcher for demons, double hogger for pirates)

just had a ridiculous game with a skallywag exodia (2 skallywags, golden baron, 2 golden kadgars, and a golden eliza)

went 19 turns and finally won because the guy made his elistra golden, so that my first round of skallywags were too small to value trade (thereby killing the exodia sequence).

funny thing is all he needed to win was to slip in a single righteous protector (or any low attack taunt) and he'd be 100% to win.

Yes since I posted that I have learned a lot about scaling and why I’ve been placing a lot of 2nd and 3rd but not as much firsts. Last night i got 3 easy wins in a row to take me to 4500. I think I can hit 6k at least which i’ll be really happy with for being a complete newb at this.

I understand for instance kalec being important for dragons but i’ve sometimes luckboxed victories without any of the pieces you just mentioned.

For instance with the divine shield hero, it is simply enough to have like 4 or 5 10/10 murlocs with divine shield, poison, and taunt, and you’ll win a surprising amount of fights. At least at my mmr. I do stuff like that when I can’t find my big pieces, or try to play off taunt synergies, or try to run up a really huge goldgrubber or something. If i can luckbox a windfury divine shield poison that will turn a 90% loss into a 55% win a lot of the time.

It always feels like I can’t find the pieces I need but maybe I’m just running bad. I always have this problem with pirates especially and sometimes beasts. I’ve got the most 1st place wins with dragons and murlocs and occasionally demons if I can get that 1/3 guy golden in a hurry.

My top performing heroes are the divine shield guy, zephrys, and the dude that can buff his minions as much as his tavern tier.

Stuff like this where i went early menagerie and was able to early goldgrubber off a zeph hero power and eventually converted my shitty golden murlocs to poisons, is kind of how it goes when I win games. I saved my last hero power for golden brann and then proceeded to not draw a single useful battlecry the rest of the game.

I will try to go for specific builds but just never seem to get offered the right pieces so I do stuff like this.

I will frequently fall to very low health and then reach a tipping point where I stop losing the rest of the game, after about turn 8. It’s either that or I get 6th-8th place. Is this common? People go SO hard in the early rounds at this mmr with tempo and I take a shitload of dmg. Almost makes me not want to upgrade on turn 2.



Anyway zeph feels so good, it almost feels unfair. You get that t5 copy a minion guy, and you get a free golden of whatever you want. It’s op. How is he a bottom tier hero?

Yeah that's my favourite build atm. Amazing how it's been there for months but it's only become meta in the last two weeks, maybe there are more innovative end game builds out there that we're missing. Won a bizarre omu game today where I had a turn 6 kalec and turn 9 double nadina single kalec and would have probably come 4th if I hadn't transitioned into pirate exodia. Have to say i'm struggling to adapt to the new meta overall, every game feels like high roll or bust and mid game builds that would have been easy top two last patch can be easy 6ths now.

So I was not paying attention on his turn 1, but I can not figure out how he got this board on 1 mana... I have to be missing something here

He has played a pirate + a 2/2 that comes out of your hand on to the battlefield when you play a pirate + patches which is similar but comes out of the deck

The good news is now you have twice that much mana to respond. Defile LDO

I think this is maybe the second time I've actually played the new Yogg. I was in a not very good spot against a Tickatus Warlock and pretty much needed Yogg to win me the game, or at least clear the dude's board.

Yogg started off spectacularly, Pyroblasting my opponent right in the face. Yogg then proceeded to Pyroblast every single minion on the board, even clearing the board after the deathrattles. Now it's just down to the heroes.

boggspine nerf doesn't feel like enough to me - it slows down the corsairs, but i don't think that makes enough of a difference

Sadly this has been the trend for years. New busted cards are released and existing basic and classic cards are being nerfed as a result.
