Galakrond rogue is the deck that promotes the most strategy and quick thinking of any deck out there right now.
You have to know your win condition in every matchup and what the other deck's weaknesses are. Do you win by generating a ton of cards and value? Do you win by minion pressure/tempo? Do you win by exhausting your opponent's resources? Do you win from a fast edwin/questing adventurer?
the mage spell discovery adds a completely awesome twist to the deck and a huge skill element. Conjurer's calling is basically my bread and butter spell to combo off janice in the late game and have some surprise monster boards. I recently used it to kill the 2/5 reborn taunt which allowed me to exact lethal - if a taunt spawned, I lost the game. No other deck has cool or creative play like that.
I'm running this deck:

I'm sure there's a better one out there. But I like lorekeeper polkelt a lot in this deck, it gives you galakrond automatically and has a few insane combos off of wondrous wand.
Agreed, it also helps that Gala Rogue is super fun. Every game is different thanks to lackeys, wand thief, and cat shenanigans. I'm 30-11 this month with it, almost the exact same list except I'm running 2 maniacs over the QA/Prep. The extra invokes and board control vs **** like face hunter really help, although maniac is easily the worst card in the deck so I'd be open to switching them out.
I switched to your version last night. Helps a lot vs hunter but not much else. I think I do like the consistency of it though - and devoted maniac makes a really excellent evolve target.
My favorite move is choosing pyroblast very early in the game because you know it’s gonna be a face race and getting lethal with it 15 turns later. Long plays like that are possible with this deck and I love it.
Pretty good legend bossfight here, I won't spoil it, but it's a galakrond rogue mirror and it ends with a pyro Played pretty smart against his weaknesses, I think.
Duels is pretty fun. I went with a miracle rogue-ish type deck. When you only have 16 cards it's super easy in the beginning to get edwin combos off. But now I have 27 cards - the deck's becoming less consistent. Miracle style rogue seems to be pretty decent though.
Soul demonhunter seems like a thing and it seems ridiculously broken.
I have thoroughly enjoyed duels. I like the idea of having a rough meta, but enough variation in decks that each game still feels relatively different. Soul Demonhunter is definitely one of the better decks, but I wouldn't call it, or anything yet, ridiculously broken.
There was a post from Iksar on reddit a few months ago where he said they crunched the numbers and all player types should get more. But it seems like that's not the case. I assume that if enough people complain, they will increase the rewards.
Aren't these battle passes usually $5 or $10? $20 is a lot, especially since you can't use ingame currency to buy it and it mostly contains cosmetics. I wonder if at this point they see that the game isn't attracting any new players and they're trying to squeeze as much out of the current playerbase before the well runs dry.
The new player experience is atrocious. I created a new account to try out all the new systems but it seems like even when you are in the noob ranks you are getting matched with regular players. Some matches are clearly with people who have mostly basic and classic cards but most are with people with meta decks (piloted poorly) and strong, synergetic cards. I wonder if it is due to the lack of noob players. After playing all day with a 30-40% win rate I lost interest and uninstalled.
I can't imagine any new, casual players coming in at this point, with a meagre collection, not knowing the meta, not knowing what cards do what and enjoying it enough to either grind for months to build up a collection or spend tons of money.
Yea I am a whale and I can’t even play half the decks in standard because I just don’t have the cards. They keep printing really strong legendaries and epics and usually by this point in an expansion I can play all the decks but the last two I couldn’t. I think the game’s getting more expensive.
I definitely would prefer the old golden epic/rare rewards compared to all the packs you get every month. 500 dust is worth more to me than the what, 4-5 packs you get at month’s end?
There are cheap strong decks every expansion though and that’s good. This go round it was face hunter.
I was a F2P player from Naxx through Ungoro and remembered that by the time I quit, I was able to play almost every meta deck and I usually had 8-10k gold by the start of the next expansion. It was definitely doable back then to "go infinite" by doing your dailies everyday, and at least hitting rank 5 each month that once you built up your collection and dusted the sets that went wild, you could get and keep a mostly complete collection as an F2P.
Been playing since...Blackrock Mountain I think? And finally uninstalled the app today. Not been enjoying the game much for a while, and the new season pass system was the final nail in the coffin.
I bought the tavern pass like some kind of rube, and immediately got pissed off that I can't dust the golden legendary. **** that ****, why? That was one of the main reasons I bought it.
In 3 hours of play I got 400 gold and 4 packs and a card back, plus one epic. Not too bad.
There's a (not really) new 30+ damage OTK combo in warrior now. I hadn't heard of it until I just lost to it. First match was to an emoting control shaman who clearly had no idea what I was doing. I had a big armorsmith turn where I gained about 40 armor and he kept emoting thank you at me, so that's why the BM.
Of course they give you tons of stuff right away. That's the whole point. Give you a big dopamine hit at the beginning to keep you grinding and incentivize you to spend money when they slow the drip feed down later on.
Can someone suggest me a deck that obliterates that Leper Hunter aids, preferably something that's not too difficult to play? It doesn't have to be top tier.
Control warrior with the skippers or armorsmith combo should work well enough. I find Gala Rogue to be pretty good vs face hunter because of the early game removal tools...HLH is much tougher as gala rogue if they curve well into bane/brann. They don't run out of steam as quickly as the pure face hunter decks. All this advice is moot after the expansion releases tomorrow though! Gl on the grind
