The lead card designer tweeted that they're coming out with a patch today with balance changes, another patch next week with more changes and to expect "a lot of balance iteration over the next few weeks."

In other words, the Demon Hunter class is still in a beta state and we are all testing it for them. It's nice of Activision Blizzard to turn their customers into unpaid employees.

Again, I’m happy that they are taking a much more active approach in balance, but ffs get the release closer to the mark. They’re so far out of bounds.

I dunno I’m happy when stuff like this happens because it means all the busted ass cards I crafted yesterday probably get free dust

Did anyone notice the “no duplicates” thing like, totally doesnt work? Or is it just for epics and legendaries now? Because I had many, many duplicated rares.

yeah, the no dupes thing worked perfectly for me

if I was nerfing the cards:

Skull: Based on rogue combo logic, it should be a little bad w/ no outcast, good with it - I'd do 6 mana, draw 3, if outcast reduce each card by 1 mana

Antean: Drop the body to a 3/3

Eye Beam: lose the lifesteal

warblades: lose 1 durability? Not sure about this one, its hard to balance this one in a vacuum, it's so dependent on other cards

Yeah. I don't want to just be angry or whatever, but the reality is I'm someone who at some point was a super hardcore hearthstone player, got turned off to the game, but played sparingly. The last arena shakeup I got very invested in the game and remembered why I enjoyed it so much, and was looking forward to the dust up. After 1 day and a few arena runs, I'm flat out done with it until they fix their ****up. It's tragic

I'm not sure how many of you play another Blizzard game Overwatch but this has been their MO - you release a new hero and make them completely overpowered (Brigette all the way to Sigma) to generate hype and get people playing the new hero, then balance it out at a later point. And this makes sense to a degree because it makes new players want to try out the new content, which is much better than the alternative of creating a new class/hero who is underpowered that no one ever plays.
It's funny, because in hots this wasn't always how it was. Sometimes their new hero release was woefully underpowered. If I had to guess, they *try* to shoot for slightly above average so that people buy/play the new stuff, but just aren't good at balancing stuff

This is the luckiest that I've ever gotten opening packs. I feel like it made up for an entire year of sub-par luck during the year of the Dragon.

I opened 165 packs and got 13 legendaries (including golden Al'ar, golden Lady Vasj, and golden Ysiel Windwinger), plus golden Beastmaster Leoroxx and golden Kargath Bladefist from the pre-orders.

The meta does feel a little busted right now, but that amount of rungood has bought them at least a week of slack from me.

I play a lot of Clash Royale, and they also tend to release things in a very overpowered state, then nerf them afterwards. It hasn't been as bad with the last couple of cards (say, 6 months). But before that it seemed almost criminal how they would release a card that was super OP, make a ton ff profit by selling special "packs" with the new card, and then nerf it a couple weeks later.

I think that the launch of Demon Hunter would have been kind of a flop if they'd been in a very balanced state. If they had released as an underpowered class, I think it would feel even worse for all the people that were hyped about it. But there is a, wait for it..., balance between making something "fun" and "good" without making the cards THAT overpowered.

I'd like to think of this as a launch event. Let people craft a bunch of stuff, let it be crazy OP for a few days and watch the chaos ensue. Then come in with a couple of patches and swing the nerf bat around. That way, the people that got in early get to have their fun, and later they can redistribute their dust if they decide they want to diversify back in to the other classes.

Lol i was reading comments out in the wild about the proposed nerf cards and noobs are NOT happy about it! Overwhelmingly the response is “great, demon hunter is RUINED! **** this game!”

I think for a large percentage of players this was the first deck where they were given most of the cards already so they could afford it, and it’s absurdly powerful and has a low skill floor. It’s entirely possible this release was a smash hit for people who suck at this game. And at lower ranks I’d be surprised if the demon hunter prevalence wasn’t lower, so it’s probably crushing even harder there.

I’ll say it for the record though - a 1 mana hero power is fundamentally broken. Mark my words.

I'm curious to see how they balance a one mana hero power for arena. This fundamentally seems difficult and more difficult than nerfing some of the class cards.

I don't mind giving credit for fast balance reactions, but some of this **** was so completely absurd at first glance, give me a break. They've turned off so much people with this nonsense.

Also they seem to lack common sense, or maybe it's just me, but dormant cards should not be overstated. You get the ****ing mana back later, etc. Launch avenging wrath every turn, seriously?

This could just be me ranting though.

Nah anyone with half a brain and has been around for as long as most of us figured this out before release even came out. I very rarely spoil myself on cards before they are released, and didnt this time, but I wouldve chortled at more than a few.

If you wanna crush demon hunters, im having success with this aggro version. The sabateur is INSANE in the mirror. You can sub out zephrys for ooze if you want extra DH hate. Zephrys is good against control decks though when you’re just a little shy of winning and need a bump. I usually end up tempoing him out on 2 though.

So it looks like demon hunter will simply be offered less in arena. Sigh, better than nothing I guess.

Hilarious, a one mana hero power that can ping... in arena..where mana efficiency and pings are probably the two most important aspects of the game mode.

edit: lol in my collection nothing has changed but in game the cards are nerfed (skull number appears in red in game).

Discovers a bit broken, getting the class bonus for which cards you get to pick and having rarity make no difference means you get offered class legendaries way to often.
