That's good advice. I've probably lost countless games because of spending entire turns rage-rolling for a particular minion.

It'll be interesting to see if the Wagtoggle buff makes menagerie builds great again.

Right. It will randonly target only cards that have enough mana to be played on the current turn.

I kinda wish I wasn't forced to disenchant all my wild cards to be able to afford to keep playing into this expansion. I miss C'Kun Druid and other ridiculous decks.

2nd round of nerfs took care of a lot of stuff that the 1st round clearly missed

2 nerfs in less than a month, really shows how botched the xpac was

First impressions of Battlegrounds post-patch after playing a dozen or so games, mostly taking the changed/new heroes:

Had several games where I took Toki, and in general feel like hers may be the hardest hero power to use correctly. Though after a few dismal tries managed to get a 1st in the most bizarre and unexpected way: Was on top with four left and all of us lost to ghosts, lol.

Shudderwock appears to have gotten significantly stronger with the seemingly small hero power change from 2 gold to 1. Had good success a couple of times with murloc builds. Any Battlecry-oriented build should work decently with him now.

Wagtoggle still is very meh imo. The +2 attack buff without the health just gives you a lot of "glass cannon" minions. On the opposite side Pyramad's health buff should be good, but because it's random and for only one minion makes it fairly weak.

Patches is fun to play even if the hero power may not be the greatest. Maybe I just like cannons that go "boom".

for a few months now I've been getting to about 6.2k mmr then going on a losing streak to 5.5k then slowly getting back, then repeat. I've obviously found my ceiling. Very frustrating.

I figured out how to beat it:




65-70% overall winrate. There are definitely quite a few games where I lose from strictly "order lol" type things where I don't have my entire turn planned out (because I'm not good at the game). I made some tweaks to what I think is probably the standard "Pure Paladin" deck.



I was getting frustrated against quest-resurrect priests but then I realized I've been playing the matchup wrong. There were a couple games where I played the first few turns slowly so they couldn't heal and finish their quest earlier, but upon looking back, I should have started pressuring their life total immediately in most cases. I was playing the first few turns like it was control/fatigue matchup and it's 100% not that when playing this deck.



*edit* Rank 7 now and winrate is coming down a little but still feels good. I just need to play more.

I haven't tried it yet, but I could see putting in annoyomodule for Glass Knight. The games where Knight does good value things, I feel like I probably would have won anyway.

I think about the book "Professional No Limit Hold'Em Vol. 1" Or whatever that book was called, and one of their big things to take away was "Plan your hand." Not a complicated concept, but enough to make an ah-ha light go on when you're a sponge trying to soak up advice.

I think about that advice often. I think it's applicable in many different aspects of life. Including when I've played all the cards I wanted to and realize I have 2 mana left so I just hero power (tap last lol).

Update: everything in Hearthstone is the most unfun thing. Everything. It's all tied for first place in the unfun Olympics. Gold medals to face hunter, res priest, "shuffle 10 Kartuts into your deck" rogue....sigh. I feel like such a cry baby.


Kartut feels bad. Also, I really dislike how many rush minions are in the game. If they printed a bunch of spells that said "Deal x damage to a minion and sometimes it summons a minion" for every class, I feel like people would complain (more than I am)

I think most of the heroes are now pretty playable in BG. The only ones I refuse to take are Finley, Jaraxxus and Patchwerk, and a lot of good players seem to think Patchwerk is still decent.

Toki is quite good IMO.

I'm at 7,700 right now, which was my previous high but it took a week to get back there. If anyone wants to get better, I'd recommend watching Bebe, the Korean streamer who is around 11K.

Hit rank 5 for my first time ever. Playing Quest Galakrond Shaman. Was pretty dicey pre-nerf, but after the nerfs the deck has gotten considerably better since the aggro meta has died a bit. Been running into a lot of Galakrond rogue on the way up, and the quest outvalues that deck like crazu in the end game.

Next stop: legend!

Unlikely. I had no idea that bonus stars went away at rank 5. Also, I dont have any extra cash for more than 1 deck, and i dont see how this deck carries me to the endgame.

Grats on 5, if you can get there you can probably get to legend too, it's mostly a matter of time.
